United midfielder Simon Hackney spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips on Saturday evening as he talked about his part in the 2-0 home win against Gillingham :

" If I'm going to be quite honest it was a slight deflection, not massive but slight, but it was on target anyway. I saw the space and I thought I'd go and attack it and see what happened when I hit it. It was a bit of a nasty game really, we've not played as well as we would like to but we've just had to grind it out and get a result.

" I think that we've done that quite professionally to be honest. I'm really enjoying it, I'm finding a little bit more confidence every game that I am playing now. If I can just get at people as much as possible then that's what I really like to enjoy.

" He's fantastic is Joe (Anyinsah), and a really good lad as well, he gets at people, he gets good crosses in and he has been fantastic. All the lads have really got on really well with him straight away since he has been here. I think he's fitted in straight away and he's shown really good spells in games getting at people and I think that's what we need. It balances the team out.

" Every game is going to be tough in this league anyway but I think that if we go there (Southend) with a positive attitude and a professional attitude then I think we will go out there and hopefully do the business. We've just go to keep on going, like I've always said we just need to stay positive and keep playing the passing game and keep getting forward.

" I think all the lads are really happy with the way the things are going in the season at the moment. Just going out there and having everyone do their jobs individually and doing them to the best of their ability is all I can say really. We've just got to go out there every game and give our best. "
