United midfielder Simon Hackney spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria on Friday evening as he gave his thoughts on the game at home to Brighton tomorrow. Hackney commenting on his pre-match routine and the excellent team spirit within the camp :

" We're all looking forward to it tomorrow definitely as it's a big game. To be honest the night before a game it's mainly just rest really after we do a bit of training on Friday, just to rest the legs and get a good early night's sleep. Get ready for pre-match for the morning and get ready for the game at 3 o'clock, that's mainly the routine.

" It's been a fantastic experience for me to be honest, that's the one thing I really love, the crowds that we get at the moment like at Nottingham Forest. It was a fantastic turnout and they really got behind us, and playing at the Valley was a fantastic experience and a very big blessing to be quite honest. I thought our fans were the loudest, like I say, it's brilliant to play in front of, from my point of view I was used to playing in front of one man and his dog. Playing in front of that many people now gears you up and makes you feel how lucky you really are.

" When I first played in my new role it was just a case of believing in myself in playing in that position, it took a few games to get it going, and I feel like I've got better and better with each game that has come. It's good that the gaffer (Neil McDonald) believes that I can play in that position, as long as I believe in myself, so it's gone fantastic. I'm varying it up a lot more than I used to, I'm used to playing on the wing and just bombing down the line, at the moment though I'm getting it and I'm passing it as well. My game has had to change a little but any chance I get to run at people is what I thrive to do and what I love to do.

" Everyone is always up for it, I think we've done Cumbria really proud in League One at the moment, I think the passing that we have done and the way that we've been playing on the break, and the defence has been fantastic as well. It's just a pleasure to play out there and play some good football, which we have been playing. It's going to be tough because they (Brighton) were in the Championship but I think if we play the way that we can do then I think we'll do our best.

" When we go to training the training has been fantastic, we've been working on a lot of shape-work, if we get the shape right then the passing comes with it because we have got some great passers in the team anyway. The formation that we seem to be playing is really working, and it's really benefiting our position so the gaffer has got us really believing that we can really do well in this league.

" I'm willing to try anything, I played in a forward position twice last year and I felt like I did quite well, the more I get to play the better I will learn the position. If I can get up the pitch further it will help my game a lot as well because it'll be nearer to the goals for me to score hopefully, I've always said about left-footers and penalties though that I'm not too sure.

" The team spirit is brilliant, the banter that we have in the changing rooms is brilliant and the way that we approach games is very professional. I think that we've got a very strong solid team and we can all play football which is nice to have. It's always a plus to get on with the team that you are playing with, and everyone seems to be going in the right direction. "
