Tangerines manager Simon Grayson, who was speaking to Blackpool's official website, talked his side's 2-1 win over the Blues at Bloomfield Road this afternoon. Grayson talking about the need to win games when you don't play well :

" My nerves are dangling a little bit, it was hell for leather at the end there. They were throwing things into the box and you just think that something might drop for them when you just throw percentage football into the area. I'm delighted at the end of the day though that we have got the three points, and that's what it's all about really. We've played some good football at times during the season and won games and we've played some good football and lost games.

" We've just mentioned in there about the Carlisle game away where we played well and came away with nothing, maybe we were hanging on today but I think throughout the game we had some good chances and could have killed it off at times. We felt that we had the legs at times to try and go and get at them in the first half, and we passed it around alright to be fair although the pitch was cutting up a little bit as the game went on.

" Full credit to Carlisle though, they came at us, they had a gameplan and played 4-3-3 with the extra man in midfield and at times we had to be patient and let them have it. In the first-half they didn't really open us up that much but when things go forward things are liable to drop. You always know that at 2-0 that next goal is vitally important, obviously they got it and it got their momentum going, and luckily, or pleasingly, we won the game.

" The quality of our second goal was outstanding, it was quick movement, quick passing and two or three touch play. Obviously it was a great run by Andy (Morrell) and to pick Keigan (Parker) out at the back-post was unselfish and they are working well as a combination. When players are working for each other and picking people out instead of shooting then it makes it a lot easier for everybody, it was a great goal to round it off. "

" Andy Wilkinson got a knock on his ankle and he said to give it five or ten minutes, but unfortunately he couldn't carry on and obviously Vinny (Vincent Fernandez) had to come on. It threw us a little bit because Vinny is more of a centre-half player than a left-back but I thought Andy did ever so well against (Kevin) Gall who is quick. Andy never gave him a kick so it was a big disappointment to lose him but hopefully he will be alright for the weekend, we'll have to wait and see.

" It's been an exceptional day as well really crowd-wise, the Swansea game the other week was exceptional with probably fewer people in. Today it shows that the public are out there who can support us, they are there to back us and the more we win the more will hopefully come back, and we can get up to that 8,000-9,000 mark on a regular basis.

" We said in the dressing-room that you can win games playing good football like we have done at times but you can also win by not playing good football, we can win by grinding games out, today we've won by a grinding a result out. We've got two sides to the team now, we can play when we have the chance to but we've got characters who will put their bodies in the way of things and block things. When you've got players like that it rubs off onto everyone else, the ingredients are all there for a successful team.

" The pitch is obviously a little bit of a concern because we don't want it to get to the stage that we are at last year where the pitch was affecting our performances, having said that though I think the pitch helped us last year to be fair. We've got better players now though, we pass the ball better, Bournemouth at the weekend was a fantastic pitch and we played well on it. We played well at times today, I just hope that we can get something sorted and it doesn't affect us. "
