Richard Keogh
United centre-half Richard Keogh spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey and Jon Colman from the News and Star on Tuesday morning ahead of Carlisle's big game at Leicester on Saturday, Keogh also looking back at United's last two home matches against Hereford and Northampton :

" I think that the league is there for everyone to see, it is very tight at the moment, not just for the relegation places but for the promotion as well. It has been like that all season really, it has been a tight league. Everyone is going to be wondering where our next win is going to come from but after our performance on Saturday, we thought that we should have won and I am sure that if we carry on playing like that then we will get the points that we need.

" I think that whoever turned up to the Northampton game can see the difference between that and the Hereford one in the two games. Even saying that though, if we had taken our chances against Hereford then who knows what that score could have been. Even though we were very disappointed after the Hereford game, everyone was down in the dressing-room and we were looking for a reaction from that game. I think that we showed that on Saturday, we gave a good performance and on another day we would have walked away with the three points.

" It has been funny how it has been so bad on injuries, obviously with Hartey (Ian Harte) as well now breaking his hand on Saturday, touch wood he will be alright. It is funny how everyone has been struck down with little niggles and injuries that have been keeping them out of games, but hopefully we are getting over that now and we will have everyone fit and raring to go for the last games of the season.

" As soon as we were about to kick-off against Northampton I think that the crowd gave us that big Brunton Park roar and the Carlisle players felt that on the pitch. We gave everything and I think that whoever went to the game could see that every player gave 110%. On another day we would have won the game comfortably but it is wasn't to be, but after that performance we are pleased, and another good week of training and we will look to the game on Saturday. "

" Personally I don't look at the league table, I think that at the end of the day you have got your own destiny in your own hands. So I just look forward to the next game and what is important for Carlisle United. So at the end of the day I think that whatever is going to happen is going to happen with the other results. As long as we concentrate on getting the points that we need then we will be fine. So I don't really look at the league table but I would be telling a bit of a lie if I said that I wasn't casting a bit of an eye at different results.

" It is not the kind of thing that I look at though and think if that goes that way then we will be alright or if that goes that way then that happens. At the end of the day we have got to win the games that we need to win, get the points that we need to win and we will be alright. So I am just looking forward to the games ahead, it is a big challenge for everyone involved at the football club and it is a challenge that I am relishing.

" Hartey has played at the highest level, not only for his club but for his country as well, so to play alongside Hartey, he kind of gave me that assurance that sometimes you need. I am still a young player, I think that people forget sometimes how young I actually am considering that I have played quite a few games now. To play alongside Hartey with his experience and that, I kind of think that it helped me through the game and it helped the whole back four through the game really.

" So it has not been easy, I think that if you look at most teams in this league they have had a settled back four and they have built from there. Whereas with us it has been chopping and changing, but is something that you have got to deal with, injuries and suspensions are part of football and something that you have got to get on with. It was a good team performance really, not only from the back four, so if we keep going then we should be alright. "

" To be honest it was a similar relegation battle at Cheltenham when I went there, and do you know what, when I was there it was kind of, not to get caught up in the whole thing of having to win a certain game. You have got to stay patient and you can't get caught up in thinking that if we don't do this then we are going to get relegated or blah, blah, blah.

" At the end of the day you have got to keep working hard on the training ground and stay together as a close unit you know, everyone involved at the football club. If you do that with the squad that we have got, and the mentality and the togetherness that we have got then it will be enough to see us through.

" Going to Leicester is what you want to be involved in football for, the big games. Leicester are wanting to wrap up the league as soon as they can so they are going to be looking to take the game to us. If you don't want to go and play at people like Leicester who are going for the league then you shouldn't want to play football.

" You want to play against the best players in the league and the higher you go you are going to play against better players. So to test yourself against those players is something that I want to do. So it is a fantastic game for everyone to look forward to, we will go there, work our socks off so to speak and we will see what happens. "
