New United loan signing Richard Keogh spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Thursday as he talked about what he expects from his temporary spell at Brunton Park, Keogh saying that he is looking forward to working with Blues boss John Ward :

" I'm really happy to be here, I'm really excited about joining a team that is top of the league and going really strong. Hopefully I can come here and add something to the squad and hopefully we can carry on from where we have left off and kick on from there really.

" When the gaffer (John Ward) came in for me I was really excited about coming, I've wanted to work for the gaffer for a while as I have heard a lot of good things about him. There are a couple of lads that have worked with him at Bristol City and they have told me some great things. When he did come in for me, he has seen me play a lot of times last year, obviously being the Cheltenham manager and Bristol being close.

" He knows what I can do, I'm pleased to be here and hopefully I can show why he has brought me to the club. I'm just here until the 1st of January so I just want to keep my head down, work hard, do well for the team and keep the team where they are fighting for promotion, and we'll just take it from there.

" You don't really want to be moving from club to club on loans here and there. At the end of the day though I am still a young lad and even though I played a lot of games last year and maybe played a big part in getting Bristol City promoted. This year I have been to Huddersfield already and it was a great experience for me, I played and started ten games there and I found the experience very good for me.

" As a young guy you want to keep playing games and the more games you play the more experience you get about the game. I am happy to be here, I don't mind travelling around too much, I've been away from home since I was a young guy so it's quite normal for me. I'm just looking forward to it now really.

" My Grandparents on my Dad's side have lived in a place called Carlow all their lives. My Dad moved over here when he was very young so that's how it (playing for the Republic of Ireland) came about really. I'm very proud to play for Ireland, it's a great honour for me, to captain my country the other day was a fantastic honour for me. Every time you play for your country it's a fantastic bonus, if I keep playing for them then it's a great experience for my career.

" Football can be a bit cut-throat with people fighting for places but I'm confident in my ability. It did go well at Bristol City and there was a contract there but that's not the issue really, I'm just happy to be here and play my football, and we'll take it from there really. Obviously though there comes a time when you just want to go to a club, get settled, crack on with your football and develop as a player and a person. Hopefully that will come soon for me.

" Just before I went away with Ireland I had to play in a reserve game for Bristol City. I just went up for a header and the centre-forward has caught me a little bit. I've had four stitches in my cheek but I'm getting used to it now, I've got a few war wounds all over my face. The gaffer has just said to me that I am starting to look like a centre-half so it can't be too bad. These things happen in football though, the way that I play I am committed so it's going to happen but you just get on with it. "
