Workington manager Darren Edmondson spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria this evening about the potential signing for United of Reds goalkeeper Adam Collin, the 24-year old having trained at Brunton Park in the second half of the season with a view to a permanent move :

" I recommended Adam to Carlisle back in October because I think that it is the right stage for him now. He is at a good age, he wants to learn, he is keen to go and play professionally. What he has got, he is a great shot-stopper for his size, he gets down well. What impresses me most at the moment is that he comes for crosses, he really is excellent at coming for crosses at the moment and confident with that.

" Added to that his distribution, his throwing and his kicking, his overall game has improved a lot. Yes, he has been in with Carlisle now training for four or five months and that has definitely helped him, so they have seen what he has got. Just his overall presence, he is a big guy and I think that helps, a goalkeeper at 6'4 is a daunting figure to come charging at you if he is coming for crosses. So I am hoping that he will get a chance in the summer and he can take it and grow at Carlisle and help them.

" A sell-on clause is something that the chairman (Humphrey Dobie) is discussing with John Nixon, so I think that that has got to be kept close to the chest at the moment. If the pair of them would like to reveal something in due course then that will be done, but otherwise Adam was a free transfer and Carlisle have taken the chance to get hold of him. So if anything is done it will be from Carlisle to us, so the two of them are still talking on that front and I am hopeful that there will be a nice gesture from Carlisle to us, but again, that is not for me to answer.
