Saddlers manager Dean Smith spoke to his club's official website and the Express and Star after his side's 3-1 win against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Smith saying Walsall were disappointed not to take a clean sheet out of the game :

"It was a very pleasing performance. The lads were excellent again. Yes, we were disappointed to concede right at the end, but the most important thing was to get the three points and we will be travelling home happy.

"We played some fantastic football at times and could have had more goals in the end. Everyone worked so hard and I am delighted for each and every one of the players who really put a shift in today. The first half was pretty even, then they started the second half by passing it better than us. They changed their system so we matched them up and it worked out well for us.

"The goals are coming for us now and we can't wait for the next game to come around. We look a good football team; it's four games unbeaten and we will continue to concentrate on what we do and get the points that will lift us in the right direction. The belief amongst both the players and supporters is there for all to see.

"Our season was a candle, but now it's a torch. Hopefully we can brighten it up even more. I said the lads are capable of winning games and I still believe that. What's important is our results and in the last four games we're unbeaten. It's worked out at an average of two points every game and that's championship form. If you get two points each game all season you win the league. That's the target we've had to achieve.

"I think the players are proving themselves. They've taken a lot of hits this season because of the position they were in but they are starting to perform and are looking like very good players again. Winning breeds confidence. Confidence breeds better players and they perform better so it's all boding well, but we are still in the bottom four.

"Our target is fifth bottom and we want to be there or above by the last game of the season. We know we are still in the bottom four and it's still going to be hard work for us. We'll take the plaudits for the win on Saturday but we've got to keep it going."
