Seagulls boss Gus Poyet
Brighton manager Gus Poyet spoke to BBC Radio Sussex after his side's 0-0 draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Poyet suggesting the Seagulls controlled the game in the latter stages of the match :

" I think we knew it would be difficult, we knew the kind of football they play. I think they were on top, especially in the first-half, they created problems because of the way they play, it is difficult to handle. Then as soon as the game got to probably about 55 minutes we started controlling the game.

" We missed that little bit of the last pass, last shot, last cross because if we had that extra little bit at the end then maybe we would have got three points. So, overall I think it was a very good result for us taking into consideration that in the first-half they were better.

" To be honest after we changed I think the team got to another level, we started passing the ball and they had a problem. Because, they needed to attack to score the winner but, they needed the ball to attack and they couldn't get it.

" As soon as we started passing it was complicated for them and to be honest these are sometimes the kinds of games that you would like to keep going because you are playing the best when the game finishes. So, again, two different halves, maybe the result is right. "

" To be honest at the end of it the best opportunity was for Carlisle in the first-half when Casper (Ankergren) made an unbelievable save. The header (from Tom Taiwo) was a close range one, really powerful and he got a great hand on it. So, apart from that it was just one of those days, and if you are clever enough and good enough to know it is a good result then you have to take it.

" We took the two wingers (Elliott Bennett and Kazenga LuaLua) off because we were not passing, we were not playing and we couldn't get them in the game. I knew that Cristian Baz is getting better and better, and he was very sharp in training and he was very good in the reserves so, I need to give chances to the players.

" I think he took his, with one of his first touches he had an unbelievable shot, we all jumped up. As well I changed it for a tactical decision because of his game and I brought Ashley Barnes on as well and it worked.

" After that you have another change left but I don't think there was anything to correct in there, you can try to be too clever so we left it to them. Credit to the players, another clean sheet, when you keep a clean sheet in this division you are on top. "

" Gordon Greer was out because it was too many things together, the calf and he only trained with us for two days. So, maybe he was not fit enough to come with us and compete in this kind of game when you need to jump a lot and deal with plenty of high balls.

" Then I think everybody knows that his wife is probably having a baby in the next five minutes or so. We were waiting for the baby last Tuesday but it hasn't come yet, so nowadays it is difficult for people to be thinking about the game and thinking about their wife as well.

" So, it was an easy decision for me to leave him behind, especially taking into account that we kept a clean sheet in the last game, so you don't change your back four when you do well.

" The fans were unbelievable and in the second-half when we were playing their way we probably did better and they enjoyed the last period of the game. So, it is something that the players like and that togetherness makes it easier. "
