Latics manager Dave Penney spoke to the assembled media after his side's 1-0 Carling Cup defeat against Carlisle at Brunton Park tonight, Penney frustrated with Oldham's efforts while in possession :

"We had good first half possession, but didn't really create chances, which is frustrating. Defensively we looked ok and we put them under a lot of pressure, we just need more composure in the final third. The result is a disappointment that's for sure. Now we have to look forward to a real test of where we're at with two tough away trips in the league.

"The longer not scoring goes on, it will prey on people's minds. But if we keep making chances - I would say we have created over 20 in our first two matches - I am sure the goals will come. I was pleased with our workrate. We put them under a lot of pressure and made them make unforced errors.

"Chris Taylor's groin problem is a worry as we are not sure what the problem is exactly. We need to get to the bottom of what is causing it. It settled down, but when he tires it causes him a problem so we will have to assess it again."
