MK Dons manager Karl Robinson spoke to his club's official website after his side's 3-0 League One defeat against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Robinson not at all happy with the performance of the visitors:

“Very, very poor, we were a million miles away from it tonight, poor. Our away form on a Tuesday night shouldn’t come into the players’ minds, if it did then they are going to be way short of being in professional football for a longer period than they are at the moment. Because, if previous form has an effect on current games then it means their mindset and their heads can’t be right, and that can’t be the case at any football club.

“Listen, I want to say something without a question, a lot of people can criticise me and the chairman [Peter Winkelman], don’t. They can have a go at me, do I run the football club, tonight wasn’t the football club’s fault, tonight was that group of players who didn’t perform to the levels they know they can. It is so easy to judge and to point fingers, but there are a number of things that we have to get right, yes we appreciate that.

“But, tonight is not about finance, tonight is about the players not being good enough. So, we can stand here and talk as much as we want, that is not acceptable. Whether it is Carlisle, who played well, credit to Graham Kavanagh and his team and it is a bit unfair to be ultra-critical of my team without mentioning the opposition who played really well and took their chances when they came along, you have got to be gracious in defeat as well.

“But, that is twice on the spin we have been appalling, we have not scored in both those games and that is not like our teams. So, there are so many elements to it and you can pick the bones out of it as much as you like but the buck has got to stop with me and players and nobody else, nobody else at all. We have got to remember nights like these because these are things we have got to get right, we have got to get these right."

“Obviously we have got a long journey back now as well as the fans, thank you to the fans for coming and I apologise to you, that is not acceptable either and I feel for you having to come all this way, so that is an apology to you. I apologise to our fans who are watching this as well who will be bitterly disappointed when the news comes through that we have been beaten so badly.

“I have got to get players that will play on these nights, it is OK playing at home with our fans in a great stadium. They can’t blame the pitch there, they can’t blame the surroundings today, the weather was lovely for an evening game. It is as simple as that, we weren’t good enough so sorry to cut it short but we were poor.

“I will be making changes very quickly. The first 20 minutes were abysmal. No style, nothing. The players have no excuses. I've just said to them, they've got their individual meetings tomorrow and some of them will be told they've played their last game for me. We've got to use some of that money to build this team, because if we don't we'll be struggling.

“I am not looking forward to the Tranmere game on Saturday yet either, let the players dwell on that, normally I move on very quickly but it is not the time. They need to reflect on that over the next 24 hours, I will start looking at Tranmere tomorrow evening, five o’clock onwards. I have got tonight and the whole day tomorrow to have a real dissect of what I have seen and I will make changes.”
