Gillingham manager Mark Stimson spoke to BBC Radio Kent after his side's 0-0 League One draw at home to Carlisle, Stimson later in the interview blaming the absence of striker Febian Brandy on a lack of warm-up time for his players away to Leyton Orient on Tuesday evening after the closure of the A12 led to a number of late arrivals at the Matchroom Stadium :

" I think we were unfortunate not to get the three points but we were the team who were looking to go forward and get the goal and on a couple of occasions we came really close. I think the keeper (Adam Collin) pulled off one or two half decent saves and we didn't have that little bit of luck in front of goal that we might have had in other games.

" I think the best chance was probably in the first half when we thought it was a penalty but we didn't get the decision, just looking at it on the video it looks even more of a penalty. Then at the start of the second half I think Jacko (Simeon Jackson) had a decent chance and he just sort of skied it. But overall, yeah we got a point but we would have liked three because I thought we deserved that.

" Again, we wanted to start fast, I think the game, there were a couple of fouls and it was sort of stop-start. We said that in the second half we were going up towards our supporters where the noise is going to come from, can we start on the front foot and we certainly did that.

" At that time you really just want to try to score a goal with all the corners we had and the possession in the final third. It wasn't to be but we kept going and late on we nearly got one. A shot was going on target but it actually hit one of our players and was deflected away from the goal. "

" Simon Royce pulled off a great save from Ian Harte and his concentration levels were good because he didn't have anything to do apart from that in the game, bar probably take a lot of goal kicks. With the boy Harte's left foot, it is like a wand isn't it and that is why he has played at top level. Roycey has done really well to get across and make a decent save.

" Initially we did something with Simon regarding training, he doesn't train anywhere near as much as the other boys and that is probably helping him. Also he did really well to turn out today because he has been hit by a little bit of a bug like a few of the boys have. Him and Mark Bentley really rolled their sleeves up for us today and started the game, obviously Benno lasted as long as he could and Roycey touch wood didn't have a lot to do. But when he was called upon he did well.

" Hopefully by next weekend everyone is over the bug, but what we have decided, we have decided to give everyone Sunday and Monday off. Because there is a bit of it going around and all it does is pass the germs on to somebody who hasn't got it. So hopefully we come in on Tuesday and prepare for next Saturday's game.

" Febian Brandy was the player that picked up the thigh injury on Tuesday unfortunately and that is where our frustration was again. Just briefly on Tuesday night, we didn't have enough time to warm up correctly. It might have been safe for the supporters to get in with the amount of stewards but it wasn't safe for my players to prepare. Unfortunately Febian has paid the price on that and now we will miss him for a couple of weeks.

" It hasn't done us any favours, you take the supporters' health and safety into consideration but you should take the players because these boys are athletes. If they don't warm up properly there is always the potential of someone getting an injury. We have picked up an injury to a very important player in our side. "
