City manager Steven Pressley spoke to his club's official website after his side's 4-0 win over Carlisle at Brunton Park, Pressley pleased with numerous aspects of the performance from the Sky Blues:

“I am absolutely delighted with the players and the way they are going about things, their energy, the speed of counter-attack football, our pressing game, they are so evident in our performances just now. The only disappointment was that it was only 4-0, because it could have been a lot more. I have to stress it is all about the team but there are always pivotal moments in games and Joe Murphy’s penalty save at 2-0 was a huge save for us.

“Sometimes when you win 4-0 the goalkeeper’s contribution is overlooked, but that was a massive, massive save for us today. We have obviously been scoring a lot of goals of late but a clean sheet today and I thought that the two centre-halves, along with our two full-backs were magnificent today. There are so many things to be pleased about in the performance, but I don’t want to get carried away because I think there is more to come.

“I thought we were good today but I think we can be even better and that is what excites me. At 3-0 up I think because of last week’s outcome we were a wee bit nervous at the start of the second-half and we didn’t pass the ball with the fluency and the belief that we normally do. But, then once we got the fourth goal we settled into our stride again and in the remaining half hour of the game we were terrific.

“We are a young team and I understand why we were nervous at the start of the second-half because we don’t have that experience, which we are hoping to learn week by week. But, the one thing about us just now is that we are an exciting team. That pleases me, we are playing the type of aggressive fast football that I have been wanting to see from us and the players deserve so much credit for it.

“We look like a team just now that has goals in it from all areas of the pitch, so we are looking exciting just now. But, one of the most pleasing factors I think today was the clean sheet as well, winning the game is vital with our predicament, there is no doubt we have to win games of football, but we won last week and winning this week with a clean sheet was a step forward in the right direction.

“We are starting games very aggressively and that comes from my coaches in the warm-up, I think that they are getting the boys in a really good mind-set prior to coming out and they are starting games in the correct manner. I am pleased for the supporters as well who have turned out in numbers for a four hour trip, they turned up here last season and unfortunately we didn’t get the result, but today they can enjoy the result on a long journey home.

“The other pleasing factor was Mathieu Manset, he is getting better all the time. He has still got a bit to go in terms of his fitness, but he is looking strong and some of his skills were sensational. He is going to have to be patient, he came to the club and he wasn’t fit enough and we have worked very, very hard with him. He said himself that he has never worked so hard in all his career but that is good as he needs to get up to the right levels the boys in the team are playing at at the moment.”
