Norwich manager Paul Lambert spoke to BBC Radio Norfolk after his side's 3-1 defeat at Brunton Park against Carlisle in the second round of the FA Cup, Lambert feeling that United's goal ten seconds after half-time was the turning point in the tie :

" Not the greatest today, we got off to a really poor start. We started slowly in the game, got ourselves back into it for a wee spell. I thought we did OK, we got the goal, then in the second-half we lost a goal after about ten seconds or so. You can't start the second-half the way we did and expect to turn the game again.

" We just never got going, all credit to Carlisle, they were better than us on the night. There are a number of things that you can put it down to, we got off to a poor start but with the goal we found ourselves back in the game. Even at 2-1 when they scored that early there is still another 44 minutes to get another goal and we just never did what we have been doing in previous weeks.

" If you are in something then you might as well go on and try to win every game you can. We have been on an absolutely terrific run, and we just go again, we just build it up and go again. I never once felt as if we had arrived, never once, we can't win every single game but the way they have been, they have been terrific the lads.

" It is tough to keep on going week in, week out, week in, week out. I can't ask for any more but today we just weren't at it. The amount of games we have got, we play again on Tuesday and then we play again on Saturday, so the amount of games we have got coming up is a big amount.

" Jens Berthel Askou had to call off, his wife is really not well and hopefully she is feeling better. We had to let him stay with his family. On the bench though we had Jed Steer and he is another up and coming young player at the club, so the experience won't do him any harm.

" The Academy is thankfully producing players because we can't go and delve into the transfer market as early as we would like to do. It is the nature of the game but I can't fault the lads for effort and commitment. It is just that on this given night we just weren't near.

" It is good to have another game coming up quickly now, it is another tough game at Southend, it is a league game where everybody knows that is where we earn our crust really and that is where we have to go away and try to win. "
