Bristol City assistant manager John Pemberton spoke to his club's official website after his side's 4-2 League One win over Carlisle at Brunton Park, Pemberton glad that the Robins have got the 21 league games without a win monkey off their back:

“Obviously, it will give us some confidence because we have been so close in a lot of games, and to finally get the monkey off your back with the win will certainly give the players and everybody else a lot of confidence I hope. The key today was just hard work, I think the first-half is probably the worst we have played, even though we weren’t that bad we didn’t do the basics right.

“At half-time to be fair the lads got a volley and they came out and responded really, really well, which needed to be said, and was, and second-half we were very good I thought. I think sometimes there are certain things need to be said and they were, and the response I thought from the players was excellent.

“Because, the players are as honest as the day is long, they work hard, I think we have been unlucky in a lot of games, but sometimes you say to players that we can’t keep being unlucky, no-one is going to give us anything, we have now got to go out and fight and try to make something happen. I thought in the second-half we did that really well and full credit to them because it has been a long time coming.

“We have been close on a number of occasions, I honestly think we are in a false position with obviously the points we could have had. But, we start again and it is a great platform to start with for the next two home games. We came in at half-time and I thought we were unlucky not to score in the first-half, but we have played better than and lost, which is the disappointing thing for us as a group over the months we have been going.

“Goals change games and it is fact and managing to stick goals away and then obviously we scored at good times as well. Carlisle scored to get back to 3-2 and then we scored again and it takes a lot of pressure off. So, really pleased and obviously the lads are really pleased with the first win as you can imagine. So, it is a relief for us, we can start to climb the table hopefully and it sets up nicely now for two home games and hopefully the supporters will get behind us and try to help us, because we really do need it.”
