Reaction From Blues Striker Lee Miller

Lee MillerUnited frontman Lee Miller (LM) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips (JP) following Carlisle's 3-3 League One draw at home to Oldham, Miller talking about the Blues coming back from 3-0 down to nick a point in injury time :

JP

What does it feel like in that United dressing room for everyone after a point, only a point, but I bet it doesn't feel like it?

LM

Yeah, to be honest it feels like a victory, it does, we battled hard right to the final whistle and I think it was four minutes added on and we scored right at the death, a great finish by Francois (Zoko) and then we take a point away from a game, a really hard game, they are a decent side and they have been on a good run, so it was good to come away with a point.

JP

Could you as players quite believe that you were 3-0 down?

LM

Erm, we were slack first half to be honest and they capitalised, took their goals really well. The first one is not a penalty from my point of view, I have won the ball but these things go against you sometimes, you have just got to battle hard and get back into the game.

JP

You are saying all the right things now but when you gave that penalty away you didn't look quite so serene about it?

LM

Nah, it is just disappointing because you work so hard defending set-plays and stuff, and you get a soft penalty given against you. But, you have got to battle hard and get back into the game and I think we did that and I think it was a good team performance in the end.

JP

And having given away that penalty, however it came about, and then seeing the side go 3-0 down, I bet you when you got your goal you kind of thought well alright it is a goal but it is still a long, long way, but you did it?

LM

Yeah, we believe in each other, simple as that, you saw the game the other night against Sheffield Wednesday, we played really well, we didn't play as well as we could have today but I think the mentality of the boys, we fight for one and other and I think we deserved a point in the end.

JP

Seven goals now for Carlisle United, did you expect to get that sort of return, it is in 12 games we think since you moved here from Middlesbrough?

LM

I am delighted, I am delighted with the way I am playing just now, I feel really part of the team and I am enjoying my time here, really enjoying it. I am just going from strength to strength and I couldn't do it without the boys, the balls into the box and the play has been fantastic.

JP

It is just one defeat in I think seven now for Carlisle United, it is not a bad little run but you had to work hard to stop it being two today?

LM

Yeah, we don't half make it hard for ourselves to be honest but it was a great point at the end of the day and the dressing room is really good, it is buzzing just now.

JP

From one big physical striker to another, what did you make of Shefki Kuqi today?

LM

Yeah, I thought his touches and that were decent, he wasn't really in the game second half but he took his goals really well. He is a prolific goalscorer, but at the end of the day I am just looking to score as many goals as I can and contribute to the team, and I think I am doing that just now.

JP

Greg Abbott talks a lot about the spirit in the squad, and at times I think when United have been losing he talks about that and I think the fans almost, if it is fair to say, get a bit tired of hearing about spirit, but is this an example of how it is here for United when you can come back and draw games like this?

LM

Yeah, it is, it is, there is a good blend of experience and youth in the team, and I thought we showed that right to the final whistle today. I thought the lads were magnificent, a few scary moments to be honest but at the end of the day we fought really hard and worked hard for each other.

JP

And you are off to St James Park next time out to go to Exeter, is it a ground you have made it to yet in your career?

LM

It isn't no, I have never been there so I am looking forward to that, hopefully we can just take the result here and capitalise on that.

JP

And in terms of the strike partnership that you are starting to strike up with Rory Loy, I know that he got his goal in the victory over Sheffield Wednesday, we put it to him that a number of fans and us were looking for a sort of a nickname for the pair of you. We have got the A-Team at Barrow with two players (Adam Boyes and Andy Cook) whose names start with A, we put it to him and he couldn't come up with anything. Have you got anything? The best we have had from the fans so far is The Scot Shots.

LM

The Scot Shots, no, you are putting me on the spot, I have not got a clue, I have not got a clue.
