Peter Reid Talks About The Game

Peter ReidPlymouth boss Peter Reid spoke to BBC Radio Devon and his club's official website after his side's 1-1 draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Reid bemoaning his team's profligacy in front of goal during the early stages of the game :

"The lads have played some decent stuff, we gave the ball away a bit too many times for my liking when we should have kept it. Certainly in the final third, certainly in the first-half I thought the opportunities, if we had taken a bit more care with the final pass that we could have been in front early on and possibly one, two or three. Great opportunities we didn't take and then we got caught on the sucker punch. But, you have to say that we have kept on going and we have got out of the game what we deserved, and we possibly deserved a bit more.

"I think if you look at Romain (Larrieu) and how many saves he had to make to their keeper (Adam Collin), their keeper has worked much harder. We never put people in. We maybe pushed them a bit wider than we should have done. But, hey, it is our fault, we have got to improve on that, we did it at Sheffield Wednesday, we didn't do it here today. I always thought we looked dangerous. It was more frustrating, than anything. There were little incidents, even in the second half, where, if we'd just taken care, we'd have got through. Is it a point gained or two lost? I thought we deserved more out of the game.

"Yannick Bolaise is a threat, I think he hit the bar and I think he got down the right-hand side a lot of times during the first-half and put pressure on them. So, he is threat is the boy when he gets at people and that is what we want him to keep on doing. Kari Arnason has got a groin injury, I thought he was unlucky to get booked, I thought he was strong, he held the lad off, and it was an unlucky decision for the boy because he is out for two games now.

"There was a free-kick in front of me that the referee (Neil Swarbrick) gave to them where they ended up scoring off it, which I thought we were a little bit unlucky. I sound as though I am moaning now, every time they get a decision they go down and score, but that is the way I see it. Rory Patterson was fouled before his booking but I think he has jumped in, which you cannot do, but never made any contact with anyone. But, I certainly think there were a couple of things missed out there today.

"Anton (Peterlin) has been unlucky, he played well on Saturday and he came on and played well here. He was unlucky to get left out and I was delighted he knocked the ball in (for the goal). It was a great free-kick. There was pace on the ball and it was in the right area so Yala (Yannick Bolasie) could get on the end of it. He also took care of the ball when he came on. All credit to the lad.

"The lads are a little bit disappointed to tell you the truth that we haven't got more out of the game, that is my feeling. But, from my point of view they kept on going which shows they have got a bit of character and we are still up for the battle. We've got a big game now on Saturday. I think the lads will be up for it. We keep on going now, every point is vital, every point is vital, and you never know, that could be the difference that one."
