Argyle boss Peter Reid
Pilgrims manager Peter Reid spoke to The Herald and BBC Radio Devon after his side's 1-1 draw at home to Carlisle, Reid happy that Argyle kept going but saying that his players have plenty to work on having not won at Home Park since mid-March :

" We're anxious at home and I put a few young lads on with plenty of legs, and we got the rewards because we kept going. It wasn't pretty, we are anxious and it is a problem, I have got to say that, to be brutally honest here it is a problem. But the only way you can do it is to work it out on the pitch, you can't do it anywhere else.

" So, we have got to get on the training pitch and we have got to have the mental strength and the responsibility to play football out there. Because it is a great pitch, the crowd get behind you so all they want to see is a team having a go and playing football.

" We were anxious and sometimes when you are anxious it may not look as though you are doing things right. I think the players were trying but you can't go out there and be anxious playing. But I just thought it was too easy for them in the first half. We didn't put enough pressure on their back four.

" I am responsible, I made the first substitution because it wasn't good enough. I think Rory Fallon has played in the World Cup but on that performance it wasn't good enough in terms of, anyone can have a bad game but you have got to have the desire to stop them playing then, and it wasn't good enough.

" I have told him so I am not speaking out of turn, that's the way I want it, and if somebody goes out there and has a bad game then I can accept that because that is the nature of sport. What I am saying is we just need to go out there and if you don't play well then you have to work hard and stop them playing. But, we didn't do that well enough for most of the game. "

" Now we have got to be better and the pleasing thing is that they kept on going, they kept on going and they showed resilience so there is something to work on. In our training sessions, we get the ball down and pass it, but when we are out here on a brilliant pitch, for some reason, we find it difficult.

" I don't know whether it's pressure, but they have got to handle that pressure. We have also got to have the mental strength to pass the ball. We have got to get them passing the ball and enjoying it. You can't go to work and not enjoy it. And what I'm saying here now, I have told the players.

" Carlisle's is a good system and we were anxious. Apart from to be fair the free-kick that the boy (David) Button made a save from which was absolutely fantastic because it had plenty of dip on it, but it was a free-kick, but now apart from that they didn't really cut us open. They had possession but they didn't really cut us open in general play. To be fair we had a few half-chances ourselves but we have just got to play better than that. "

" I might have started with Rory Patterson but he was away in Montenegro and he got back on Friday, Thursday night he was in Bristol and his bag was lost. The boy had a torrid time journey-wise and I thought it was unfair to start him but thankfully he was up for it and he kept on going.

" I think he had about four shots while he was on, one past the post, one the keeper (Adam Collin) made a save low down and he scored one and then the other one got blocked. So, it tells you the boy is hungry for goals and he got in the right positions.

" I just asked Anton Peterlin at the end what he had done and he said he had tweaked his hamstring, I said it was fantastic because he showed plenty of character and he stayed out there for me and you can't ask for anything more than that.

" If my players give that and take responsibility, because if we get beat in games then I will hold my hands up, but we have got to show that responsibility and we have got to show that character on the pitch.

" I would have been happy with four points from the first two games, the pleasing thing about that is that we kept on going. We kept on going and we nicked something at the end and that shows that there is character there and there is something to work on. There is a lot of hard work to go, a lot of hard work, but we kept on going. "
