Pirates boss Paul Trollope spoke to BBC Radio Bristol after his side's 3-2 defeat at home to Carlisle this afternoon, Trollope suggesting that his side conceded three sloppy goals :

" I think that we were beaten by a good side, we had some reports on them in pre-season games and we knew that they were a good attacking side, they have got some quality in the right areas. That proved to be the case, we feel overall that we were probably worth a point out of the game but our biggest crime today was conceding very shortly after going into the lead.

" All three goals were disappointing defensively, which we need to address. Even in defeat though there were a lot of positives that we can take out in terms of our forward play especially. Rickie Lambert and Darryl Duffy are starting to combine well and there are some good signs, but obviously it is not the way that we wanted to start.

" We made individual errors, it's not rocket science, we had gone a goal up and thought that we were playing well. A really bright start, an attacking bright start, and then unfortunately, I think that it was four minutes after we scored, we switched off from a corner. I think that it was the second corner in succession, no-one went out for the short and then there was a poor bit of marking in the middle and it is in the back of the net.

" The second one was similar in people not doing their jobs on the outside of the box which they know they should be doing, and a long shot ends up in the back of our net. Then the third one, a straight flick and we didn't cover it properly, which we do day in and day out, so disappointing, the goals were disappointing. It was a fantastic crowd, the support was fantastic and we were desperate to give them a win to start off. Unfortunately we haven't though, it's not the end of the world but it's not what we were looking for. "

" I think that both Darryl Duffy and Jeff Hughes both had decent contributions in the game on their debuts. Both have missed a wee bit of training so we knew that probably 60 or 70 minutes in they would tire, and unfortunately we were chasing the game at that time. They have settled in well within the group and they produced some touches today that gave us a lot of hope and a lot of positive things that we can take from it.

" Darryl especially, his link with Rickie Lambert hopefully we can build on and improve, and I'm confident that they will score goals. We did look more of a threat, even at going in at half-time down I was confident that we could get back into the game. It wasn't to be today but the areas that we need to work on are very clear and we are positive we are doing it for Tuesday night.

" I hope that the goal for Andy Williams will help him, it was a good finish. I just felt that we needed something different on the outside in the last 20-25 minutes. Andy was a threat, he had a shot just before with his left foot and it was a good finish. When a ball comes to you with that much time and space then a lot of things can go through your mind. It was a composed finish but on the day it was too little too late for us.

" There were will be no new players for Tuesday night but we are still looking, we still need to add. I am happy with the way that it is shaping and we knew that Carlisle would be a tough test for us. Sometimes when teams get beat in the play-offs they have a dip at the start of the following season but I think that you can see that they are a top six side.

" They counter-attacked at great pace and they had a lot of quality in the right areas, but we scored two goals at home and on those occasions you expect to win games. It wasn't though, we feel that we deserved a draw but didn't get it, so we have to dust ourselves down and pick the players up for a tough trip to Watford. "
