United midfielder Paul Thirlwell spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Saturday evening as he spoke about the 3-1 defeat at home to Bristol City yesterday :

" I'm a bit tired, I was a bit tired in the first-half to be honest. I think the manner in which we played in the first-half then if I had played in the last three games then I would have been a little bit tired. We were excellent in the first-half, I think it was one of the best displays we have put on this season, but unfortunately we couldn't carry it through for 90 minutes.

" I think we absolutely dominated from start to finish in the first-half, a great poachers goal from Danny (Graham) put us one up after five minutes. We dominated possession and dominated chances although maybe not the clear-cut ones we were hoping for, we should have gone in two or three up.

" I wasn't aware of the two or three minute scenario on their first goal but it's irrelevant really, we shouldn't concede a goal at that point in the game. It was disheartening, especially after the manner in which we had played, we were devastated for the want of a better word at half-time. If we were going to concede one it was with no chance to continue in the first-half because we might have been under the rack then and conceded another one.

" It was a bad time but we came out in the second-half, albeit not at the same pace in the second-half as we had done in the first-half but that's one of those things. I think they had three or four, possibly five, chances throughout the game and they have put three away. The third goal was a sort of wonder strike if you like, I think 2-1 down we are obviously chasing it because we need a result. They are second in the league for a reason and looking now as if they are going to go up, obviously they are going up to the place we want to be at.

" Swansea is a huge game now and exactly the same situation, it's going to be a massive game against Swansea and another bumper crowd. The fans were magnificent today, our fans were absolutely outstanding, even the Bristol City fans were good and it made for a great atmosphere. Those are the games as a footballer that you want to be playing in, and we're going to be playing in another one next week.

" We all want to play as high as we possibly can and we know we've got a good squad here. Consolidation would have been what we were looking for at the beginning of the season. Even today is disappointing but disappointing from the fact that we've outplayed a top side in the first-half and should have had them put out of sight really. I think if there is such a thing as a good way to lose a game then we've done it today.

" Swansea are a huge club and they have been in this league for a few seasons now. They're expected, if that is the right word, but they are certainly due to get out of this league with the squad they have got, the fanbase and the size of the club. They'll come up here knowing that they need a result, as do we, and we'll be doing our utmost to get it. If we can out another display in like we did, certainly for the first 45 minutes today, then we'll definitely run them close. "
