Colchester centre-half Paul Reid spoke to BBC Radio Essex ahead of his side's game against the Blues at Brunton Park tomorrow, Reid also talking about the loan spell he spent at his home-city club in the 2007-08 campaign :

" I spent the back end of last season there on loan so I got to know quite a few of the playing staff there as well. They are a good set of lads and it will be good to go back and see a few old friends. To be honest it was a real high and low there, when I got the call to say that Carlisle wanted to take me on loan they were second in the table. I thought that if I could go there and try to help them get promoted then what a great end to the season it would be for me and the club.

" It just really didn't work out that way, I went there pretty much half-injured and determined to get myself fit to help them. Then when I did finally get myself fit I was injured after half an hour in the first-team with another injury. So that pretty much ended my season and then Carlisle fell away at the end of the season and went out in the play-offs, so it was a pretty unsuccessful time there to be honest.

" I am really not sure what has happened up there this season, obviously I don't get to see many games myself because I am a long way away. They are a good set of players and a good set of lads, I can only imagine that by the end of the season they will manage to turn it around and get in a better position.

" My Dad is a season ticket holder, he goes to all the home games. I am sure that he will be sat there on Saturday, I am not sure which team he will be supporting but he definitely will be there. I think that he would probably have his head in his hands if I scored on Saturday, I would probably be in for a bit of a hard time when I got home. I think that he is looking for a score draw with me scoring.

" We have made the season difficult for ourselves with the start that we made but we are on a good run and at the moment we are just concentrating on that run and seeing where it takes us. We need to win games rather than draw but some draws are a point gained, I think that Bristol Rovers on Saturday was a point gained because it was a tough game. Games like we have drawn at MK Dons away though, we felt that we should have won that game.

" Because of the start to the season we made we literally have put pressure on ourselves to win more than we lose or draw. Hopefully our good form means that teams will give us a little bit of respect, and not fear us, but respect us when we do come to grounds. Because we have got a good away record as well and hopefully we can make that tell. "
