Cobblers manager Stuart Gray spoke to his club's official website about today's 1-1 draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Gray suggesting that United's opening goal was a sucker punch :

"When you hit the woodwork twice you can be forgiven for thinking it is not going to be your day. Then we got done by a sucker punch and we were a goal down. All credit to Luke Guttridge though, he followed a shot in well and scored from a rebound. In the second half we were against a strong wind but we defended well and I don't think you should undervalue this point.

"Other results were not great today but we can't do anything about that. The defeat against Swindon is the result that has set us back, but this point edges us closer to teams like Hartlepool and we still have games in hand on quite a few teams.

"Jared Hodgkiss had a steady debut. I felt we needed Jason Crowe' s pace at the back and he was outstanding, and Chris Doig alongside him did well too. Jared will be pleased with his debut but he will get better as he gets used to his new team mates.

"We knew that Adam Watts suffered concussion in the reserve game we saw last week. The medical advice is for him to sit out ten days because of that so he will miss Yeovil but he will be fit and ready for the run in."

"Luke Guttridge suffered a knee injury and that is why he came off. We will have to see how it settles down before we know about Tuesday. He hit the post with a great shot and was in the right place to score from a rebound and I was pleased with his performance.

"Bayo (Adebayo Akinfenwa) has been suffering from ilness for a week or so now but he has still given us three performances in that time. We are having to look after him a little bit at the moment but I know he will be out there again for us on Tuesday.

"I thought we did enough to be ahead by half time but at least we got the equaliser and claimed a point. In the second half we had to cope with their pressure and had we used the ball better we could have caught them on the break a couple of times.

"I don't think you can undervalue a point at Carlisle. The most important thing was to come here and not get beat. It claws the Hartlepools of this league back into our reach, especially with the games in hand. Although those games in hand will only be an advantage if we can make them an advantage.

"It is a huge match on Tuesday. If we show the spirit we have shown here I am sure we can go there and get a good result. We have to defend as a team and attack as a team and if we do that we are capable of getting the result we need."

Meanwhile Cobblers goalscorer Luke Guttridge commented to the Northampton Chronicle on the injury that he picked up in the game :

"The injury isn't that bad, I've been struggling for the past three or four months with a medial knee ligament problem and I just tweaked it a bit when I went in for the tackle. I thought it was best to come off so I did just as a precaution more than anything really. I didn't want to make it any worse and hopefully it will have settled down by tomorrow. It was annoying because I felt I had another goal in me and I was enjoying it playing on the right."
