United boss Neil McDonald spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Saturday evening as he gave his opinion on the 1-1 draw at home to the Millers. McDonald talking about loan signings and Carlisle's attacking play :

" I really don't want to talk about the referee, it's about us, I thought it was a fine performance by us off the front foot, we've created lots of chances again and we've come from a goal behind against a team that is in top form. For the positives, it was an excellent performance and that is probably the best we have played for quite a while – passing and moving and going forward and I thought we defended resolutely.

" I'm definitely disappointed that we didn't win the game, we've got a goal from our first corner or set-play which is excellent. I've been ribbing Greg (Abbott) about that because he does the free-kicks and corners and stuff like that, we all do it together I suppose, but hopefully that is the first one of many. I was disappointed that we didn't win the game in the end.

" He (Karl Hawley) made a difference, he's a good inter-link player and he's had chances himself – he hit the crossbar, he's also made numerous chances for other people so even though it was a strong point I suppose after going a goal behind I'm still disappointed with the point. It's one point gained though, we're still in eighth, if we can win our home games then it gives us a great chance but the old saying again is that if we can get our away form right then we will be flying. The home form is really good though and I'm really pleased with today's performance.

" It's up to him (the referee) to sort things out and I don't think he did to be fair, I've got the assessor coming into my room for the first time since I've been a manager wanting to look at the incidents so the incidents must have been controversial. I think he was biased towards Rotherham in the first-half and biased towards Carlisle in the second-half if that is me being honest. I think on our penalty claim that the lads, and they are an honest bunch of lads, are saying that he moved his arm towards the ball and it was on it's way in so we were disappointed we didn't get that.

" At the same time though we've played some really good stuff off the front foot, good forward play and we totally dominated the game in the second-half. I've brought Paul Thirlwell and Kevin Harper in and he (Harper) is getting stronger with each game, and we look forward to possibly nicking him for another month. He (Jermaine Beckford) has gone back, I spoke to Dennis Wise and he wants to have a look at him – he wants him back. The lad has been a great help to us, he secured three points, he scored a goal – his first ever goal in football – so we'll have to try and get him a photograph in a frame so he can always remember that he scored his first goal for Carlisle.

" The FA Cup has got lovely memories for me and yes it's another away trip that we have to put with, it's a game that we're looking forward to. It's a change from the biting in the league where you are under pressure to get as many points as you possibly can, we're looking forward to the game against Swindon on Saturday though. "
