United boss Neil McDonald spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Tuesday night as he gave his opinion on a backs-to-the-wall 2-0 victory at home to Blackpool that lifts the Blues into fourth spot in the League Two table :

" The game is not all about attacking, it's about defending, we won on both counts – we kept a clean sheet and we scored two goals. We worked very, very hard over the pre-season, as well as in the games, to keep clean sheets. When the players are determined and on the run they are on at the moment, then as I said it's not all about scoring goals, it's about keeping clean sheets and everyone from the goalkeeper all the way up to Karl Hawley did their job defensively.

" It was a sense of relief when the second goal went in, I always thought that they wouldn't score (laughs), try telling my fingernails that. We've worked extremely hard and then when we've had the chance to counterattack we have. He (Wes Hoolahan) controlled the game in the second-half but they played in front of us and didn't really get behind us, okay they hit the post, but you can have a lot of possession and not break a team down and that's what has happened today.

" It's been a tremendous fortnights work, the players deserve every plaudit they get at the moment, to go away to big clubs like Bradford and Nottingham Forest and then come back and finish the job off is excellent. We said that if we can get four points out of the two games and then another two games then that is the job done.

" On Paul Murray, we are still trying to sort out his knee and we'll give you information on that as it goes along. David Raven has just got a little bit of a sore groin that he has been playing with for quite a while, and it's come to the point where we have to bring him out of the team and make sure that he is fine. The players have worked their socks off tonight and we were a bit concerned that some of them were a little bit tired towards the end, which is only natural when you are chasing the ball. We'll make sure that we prepare properly for the Crewe game though, and we'll look forward to it because we are on a good run. "
