New United loan signing Nathan Eccleston (NE) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton (PN) after joining the Blues for a month from Blackpool, Eccleston saying the move had been in the pipeline for a couple of days:

PN

How has this loan move to Carlisle come about for you?

NE

Well, I was speaking to Paul Ince at Blackpool about a loan move and it has been in the pipeline now for a couple of days. I finally got it sorted last night and I came here this morning to get it done.

PN

How have you found things so far, I guess you have been training with the team today?

NE

Yeah, I travelled up from Manchester where I am living at the minute and met the staff and the players and the backroom staff. I have just been training with the lads and so far, so good, they have made me very welcome and it has been good so far.

PN

And I am guessing you will have already known David Amoo from your time at Liverpool together?

NE

Yeah, definitely, I have known David for about seven years and I have stayed in regular contact since he came to Carlisle and he has been doing really well. I didn’t let him know about me signing today until everything was done, I thought I would surprise him, but I stay in regular contact with him, so it is good that I can come here and know someone who is here.

PN

Obviously it has been a frustrating period for you in your career because you have had a few loan spells, the most recent one at Tranmere, and then you had that injury and had to come back, and not getting that look in the first team at Blackpool at the moment, how frustrating has it been for you?

NE

Yeah, players go through stages like this in a career, obviously mine has come a lot earlier than most people. I have been at Blackpool a season now and I have not played that many games due to injury and a good run of form that we have been showing in recent times. But, rehabilitation and training in regards to getting back fit, it has been a lot better this time and I am feeling strong and ready to go, so it is a great opportunity for me.

PN

Do you feel as though you might have a point to prove to yourself at the moment, again similar to David Amoo in that maybe your career path hasn’t quite worked out in the way you might have wanted it to?

NE

Yeah, I think that any 21, 22, 23-year old, it is where people normally forge a career for themselves and make a name for themselves. My early days at Liverpool, there was a lot of expectation and potential that they saw in me, obviously I went on to play nine times for them. Unfortunately it didn’t work out there but this is a new chapter in my career now and hopefully I can go out and do good things.

PN

For those Carlisle who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe yourself as a player?

NE

I would like to think of myself that I can be very hardworking, I am a player that likes to beat people with either foot and I like to entertain, but not just entertain, I am not a showpony. I like to create goals for other players and I also like to score goals and just try to fit into how the manager sees me in his team and hopefully do a good job for him in whatever position he decides to play me in.

PN

Yeah, how fit are you feeling at the moment, I mean if you get the opportunity to start tomorrow do you feel ready for it?

NE

Yeah, I got asked a similar question earlier today and I think any player is thrown in at the deep end more often than not. I have not played that much football recently, I have had a good chat with the manager here and he understands my situation. I am coming into a team that has won its past three games, so I don’t expect to start straight away, I have got to fight for my shirt and get my spot in the team.

PN

And just beyond another month, I know it is difficult for you to look beyond the initial month, but if you were enjoying it and the club were happy would you be happy to look at the possibility of maybe extending the stay with the club?

NE

Yeah, obviously I have had conversations in private with the necessary people and I think if all three parties, myself, Blackpool and Carlisle thought I was progressing then I don’t see why I couldn’t stay beyond the initial month if I wasn’t needed at Blackpool. I have come here with a point to prove, not only with the fans but myself. First and foremost I want to come here and do as well as I can and I think if everybody is happy then yeah I don’t see why I couldn’t stay longer than the initial month.
