Matt Taylor
Grecians skipper Matt Taylor spoke to Kellows Bootlaces after his side's 3-2 League One defeat at home to Carlisle, Tayor disappointed with City's defending from wide areas in the game :

" I think we could have stopped the first goal, we have got to stop the crosses, we spoke it all over the last couple of days that they have got good quality from wide areas. We have got to stop the cross and then we have got to defend it better so there is no point saying it was a good delivery, we have got to hold our hands up and say we could have done better.

" At 1-0 you are always in the game, you are only one goal away but 2-0 is a kick in the teeth before half-time. But we showed a lot of character in the second-half to get back in the game and then we have thrown a goal away at the end.

" We have played to a structure like we should have done in the first-half, but in the first-half we did our individual things to be honest with you. Which is not our way, it is not what we get to taught to do in training every day. In the second-half we played to a script and when you play to a script other people know what you are doing.

" So it was a lot easier for all the players involved and it paid off and we got back in the game, and then to concede a last minute goal was devastating. We are low as you can expect to be honest with you but we have got a big game on Saturday now at MK Dons. We have got to go there, it is going to be a tough place to go but we have got to go there and expect to get three points.

" They are a top quality side with top quality players. They have got one of the highest budgets in the league and they have got a highly rated manager and a good set of players. It will be a tough place to go but every game is a massive game for us now, so we have got to go there and get something.

" Hopefully Rob (Edwards) will be fit, he had a terrible injury against Leeds. All the lads felt for him because nobody really knew how bad it was to be honest with you until we saw him a few days afterwards. He has hardly eaten for a week and a half so you feel for him, but as a defender you put your body on the line and Robbo has done that for this club for a few years now, so he has been exceptional. "

Meanwhile fellow defender Richard Duffy told the Express and Echo :

" We were pretty bad in the first half. We made some changes in the second half and got ourselves back in the game. But we gave away three bad goals again. We were lacklustre in the first half and the whole stadium was flat.

" We didn't start the game properly and we were two down before we knew it. It seems to take us to be 2-0 down to start playing football. It is not right and not good enough. There is no other way of putting it — we are in a relegation scrap and we have got to work hard and try and get ourselves out of it. "
