Town midfielder Michael Pook spoke to the Swindon Advertiser after his side's 3-0 defeat at Brunton Park last night, Pook offering no excuses for a disappointing display by the Robins :

"There was a feel-good factor because it was the FA Cup and everyone was glad to get through but even if you look back Forest Green must have been wondering how they went away without even a draw. We did not play that well then and they did.

"So that is two games on the bounce where we have been nowhere near our best so there is obviously something wrong and we need to go away and sort it out. We are threadbare, which is an obvious thing, but that is no excuse. There are good players waiting in the wings and it is down to us to keep our system and make it work. But the inquest starts today.

"Team spirit is brilliant here. Everyone gets on with each other brilliantly but it does not mean to say when we get back into the dressing room we won't have things to say. Players have every right to have things to say but that is left in the dressing room. There are things we need to improve football wise, not spirit wise.

"We were quite thankful it was just 3-0 in the end, it was so bad. We just seemed not to be at the races. It is a horrible place to come but that is no excuse. We were off the pace and deserved nothing. We don't feel we deserved to win so we are not coming away saying we were unlucky. We are not blaming the ref either. We just played badly and are disappointed in ourselves."

Meanwhile Swindon skipper Hasney Aljofree was equally disappointed with their efforts :

"We just did not perform on Tuesday night. Carlisle outplayed us in every department and I hate saying that. It was very, very disapointing. For me that is relegation form and we know if we keep playing like that we won't be in this league very long.

"But I am confident we will recover and prove that performance was just a one off. We have good players in this squad and our aims have not changed for the season. We just know we have to do better, a lot better, than we did on Tuesday night.

"We did not gel, we did not play as a team and it was simply not good enough. We can do better and we will do better. It is a case of going back to the training field and sorting out where it all went wrong. It is a difficult place to go and of course we are missing a lot of players. But there can be no excuses.

"No disrespect to Carlisle because they are a good side but they are not that much better than us. We have players who should have given them trouble and we should have coped with their danger better. We have some strong players though and hopefully you will see the real Swindon Town on Saturday at Southend.

"Ben (Tozer) has done brilliantly since getting his chance this season and there has been a lot of hype surrounding him and this Everton trial. But people have to remember he is only young. He will suffer disappointments and it is how he responds. I expect him to come back stronger. I think it is time for Ben, and all of us really, to just a look at ourselves and see what went wrong on Tuesday night. We must learn from this."
