Michael Bridges
United goalscorer Michael Bridges spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey after Carlisle's 1-1 draw at home to Swindon, Bridges praising the work-rate of his fellow United players in the game :

" It is unbelievable, the lads today, the performance, you can't knock anybody's work-rate. Scott Dobie came in today and he was absolutely magnificent, he worked his socks off. Lummy (Chris Lumsdon) has come in for Graham Kavanagh, and obviously Lummy blew up after 75 minutes, that was expected because everybody has worked so hard.

" It just feels like a defeat, we get so close, everybody is dejected on the pitch there, it has happened again, last minute and another free-kick. We have got a point though which keeps us, I think we go level with Crewe now, above on goal difference, so that is the only positive that we can take out of it really.

" The manager (Greg Abbott) and Kav have just said that everybody goes away from there with getting a point and obviously we are deflated. We have got 14 days left and we have got to come in on Monday with a fresh mind and put this out and come in and no messing around, just everybody get down and graft hard like we have been doing in the last two weeks. It is just unfortunate, there is no justice, we have worked our socks off and it is unfortunate. When you are in the bottom half you don't get the rub of the green though.

" To be honest with you on their goal, David Raven has come inside and he has made the tackle, and he has actually won the ball to push it out towards Jeff Smith. Jeff has got hold of it and then the referee (Colin Webster) has blown for the initial foul. These things go against you, it was right on the edge of the box and Ben Williams had a fantastic game, he made two great saves.

" He actually had the free-kick covered, what has happened is that it has taken a deflection off David Raven's head. It has just skimmed off it and it has just taken it out the path of Ben Williams. Which just to see it hit the back of the net is so cruel on the lads, you could just see the deflation around the ground. "

" It is horrible, it is absolutely horrible but we can't dwell on it. We have got to pick ourselves up and be positive for the next week. We have got to go down to Cheltenham and get a result there and then it is in our hands against Millwall. I am not going to be watching out for the midweek results, I will wait until I get the phone calls.

" The mental strength is in there because I have been through this before, Chris Lumsdon has, (Paul) Thirlwell, Scott Dobie has, Graham Kavanagh has and I think that Murph (Peter Murphy) will have been there as well. We have all got a bit of experience and we have got to be big and strong and put it behind us. If there were a couple of young kids involved then maybe it would be crippling them, fair play to the manager, he hasn't stuck people in, he has stuck with the senior lads and he has told us that it is down to us to get us out of it.

" On the pitch it wasn't a positive mood at the whistle, but after the game we have gone in there and there was no arguing or no bitterness. Everybody has played their part, everybody has worked hard and it is just one of those blows. If you dwell on it then you might as well say that we are down now but we are not.

" In the first-half I thought that we were absolutely superb, we have absolutely destroyed them. I don't know, we started the second-half, we came out and in the first five minutes they have had a couple of corners. We always seem to start badly in the second-half and that gave them a little bit of initiative and got them back in the game. I just thought that we could have been two or three up then the game is dead and buried but it is the same old story unfortunately.

" The supporters were fantastic today, there was no animosity. Everybody was behind us, so we have got to go down to Cheltenham and get the result and then come back here on the final day and hopefully get something out of it you know, we could do with Jimmy Glass coming back. "
