January League Two player of the month Michael Bridges spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey this evening as he gave his thoughts on the Grimsby victory. The ex-Leeds player also spoke about his own ill health and another big game to come against Rochdale on Tuesday :

" Absolutely massive win, we knew what we had to go and do. I don't know whether Grimsby were thinking, after the Cardiff situation, how we'd react from that but the lads have bounced back in the best possible way. We've gone out, we've ground a result out and, as Jose Mourinho says, a 1-0 win is the best win you can get, the lads have kept a clean sheet and we've scored.

" No disrespect but I thought it was a bigger game today, I mean we did alright and there was a potential trophy at the end of it but I think everybody wants the league and we knew that's what we had to go and do. We've put on a performance today, we've scrapped one out, the lads are absolutely buzzing, the gaffer (Paul Simpson) is buzzing, everybody at the stadium was buzzing and it was a great turnout today, the fans were fantastic. I needed an extra ticket when I came in today and there were none going.

" Rochdale is the next one, obviously Rochdale aren't having the best of times at the moment so potentially we could go down there and slip up. You never know, we've got be focused, the lads know what we've to go and do and if we can get another result there then, I think the gaffer has got the champagne on ice at the minute, but if we can get a result down there then we can start talking about it. Until then though we are just going the right way.

" Today was the result, we needed the result to give us a bit of breathing space. There are a few more results that have gone our way today which is fantastic. Like I say, we are just on cloud nine, we've set a new record today with seven wins so we've gone down and made a little bit of history today which is fantastic."

" For the goal, Zigor (Aranalde) has played a great ball over the top, thankfully the touch that I've taken has made it sit up lovely, if it had been on the deck maybe it would have been a bit harder to finish. It sat up great and I've seen the goalkeeper off his line and thankfully it's dropped under the bar, and I was just running off going mental with Kevin (Gray) and Murph (Peter Murphy) shouting Thierry Henry.

" The boss said at half-time to keep going the way we were doing, we were grinding the result out and we battled against the wind in the first-half and we knew we had the wind in the second-half. He wanted a lot more balls over the top because he felt that they were lacking pace at the back, their two big lads are like head on sticks, they'll head everything all day long. So we knew that we needed to get the channel balls going and that's how it proved, with Ziggy playing one down the channel and thankfully I was on the end of it.

" It was ridiculous in the dressing room afterwards, it was massive, absolutely massive. We're not going to go and get carried away though because we've got the Tuesday game, he's told everybody to look after themselves and get ready for Tuesday.

" I feel like I've lost so many years through injuries and not potentially playing week in and week out. Simmo and Dennis (Booth) have given me that opportunity here and I cannot thank them enough. They have got my career back on track, they have made me feel fresh, I'm a new man again and I'm enjoying my football. The last 48 hours though, it doesn't sound very nice, but I've had a lot of sickness and diarrhea, I didn't quite last towards the end. I was feeling a little bit ropey and the gaffer saw that I was a bit drained so that's why he brought me off after 75 minutes because I was feeling a bit weak. "
