City manager Roberto Martinez
Swans boss Roberto Martinez spoke to the assembled press yesterday evening about his side's 2-1 win at Brunton Park that kept alive the play-off hopes of the Welshmen :

"You have to be worried in that situation. The goal happened so late and that's when you see the fans' emotions. I was worried about the safety of the players but the security around the ground from the Carlisle staff was good, they did a fantastic job.

"Lee Trundle, Izzy Iriekpen and Kristian O'Leary were the last three players on the pitch and got a little bit caught with the wave of people. But thankfully everything is fine. It is hard for the FA but it is an important issue and one they need to look at. Maybe they need more security before the final whistle because the health and safety of the players is very important.

"What is in our hands is to perform well against Blackpool. That's what we want and if we carry on playing the way we did today then our fans will be very proud of us. We played well from the first minute and I felt we should have had a bigger advantage in the first half. But Carlisle threw everything at us and it was fantastic credit to the players the way we bounced back to get the winner.

"It was a great situation that both teams needed to win and it was box-to-box with some fantastic moves. But I'm really pleased. To perform like that away from home in such a difficult scenario the boys made everyone very proud. What is in our hands is to perform well at home to Blackpool. If we play like we did at Carlisle, then I think our fans will be proud of us."

Meanwhile ex-Falkirk striker Darryl Duffy said about his controversial late winner :

''I don't know how their manager could see it from where he was standing. I bent down and my arm was down there, but the ball hit me in the side of the chest. I like to think I'm an honest player and I can honestly say the ball didn't hit me on the arm. Carlisle are protesting because it's frustrating losing a goal in the last minute like that.

"It's a killer blow at that stage and I'm sure if it had been the other way round we'd have been just as frustrated. But the linesman was right in line and if it had hit my hand he would have seen it and given it. He didn't flag because it wasn't handball and I'm just delighted to score such an important goal.

"The last minute is always a fantastic time to score and it made it even sweeter to get three points. It was a fantastic time to score. Both teams went all-out to win the game, and it must have been great to watch because it was certainly good to play in. Luckily I was stood right by the tunnel when the whistle went.

''I heard the staff screaming at me to get off the pitch and turned round to see floods of fans coming on to the pitch. It seems Lee (Trundle) is not very popular up here, but then he isn't popular at a lot of grounds because he's a good player. We're up against it, but we'll just go out next Saturday and give it our all. We've put a good run together to give ourselves a chance and all we can do is our best against Blackpool."
