Terry Yorath
Margate boss Terry Yorath spoke to the official 'Gate website about tonight's 6-0 pre-season friendly win for Carlisle at Hartsdown Park, Yorath hoping that some of his younger players can learn from the game :

" First of all it is a game to try to get us fit, we have got another game tomorrow (against Grays). In the second-half I threw on a couple of trialists and a few of the young lads and I hope that they can learn from that. Because some of them think that they are good players and tonight has proved that they are not that good, so that is a learning process.

" Fair do's to Carlisle though, they came here, they played in the best spirit. They put two teams on the pitch and I thought that Ian Harte's goal, which was from a free-kick, was tremendous. I thought that most of the other goals were defensive mistakes which we have got to learn from. It is a good exercise though and we didn't pick up any injuries, so we are OK.

" It just shows you the difference in class between where Carlisle are and where we are, which is pretty obvious even before the game. Obviously I wasn't hoping that we would get tanked, I thought that we would get beat but I didn't think that we would get beaten by six.

" Never the less though, it is a good exercise and those players in the dressing-room now, I hope that they are thinking about next year and next season, thinking about how they can improve and thinking about tomorrow's game as well.

" I thought that Lloyd (Blackman) upfront did particularly well without really getting any chances to score. I thought that Ben (Lewis) was steady, in the second-half obviously it was more difficult for our defenders because we had loads of young players out there. They will both come on though when they get to know their team-mates and if I can get another striker in to play with Lloyd then I would be delighted.

" Holding the ball up was something that we were lacking last season, he is a decent player, he has got a decent scoring record, he is quite physical, and he is mobile, which is good. So I am just looking forward to getting another striker with him My expectations now are for us to get fitter and to get a more assembled side if you like.

" We are still looking for positions, a goalkeeper, a midfield player and a striker. We thought that we had a midfield player but we lost him, a striker is still in the balance, and a goalkeeper - we are just looking at whatever is there you know. "

Meanwhile Margate defender Curtis Robinson also spoke to the official 'Gate website after the game, Robinson commenting :

" It was definitely hard work, you can tell the level that they are at, purely through fitness and just the way that they played football around us, it was another level, I have got to say it. Playing against someone like Ian Harte who can ping free-kicks in like that, you have got to appreciate the ability of a quality side and enjoy playing against them.

" It is definitely good to go out and play a proper game, we are all at a reasonable level of fitness and to be fair it is hard game to go through for your first friendly. Overall though I think that fitness-wise all the training that we have been doing has paid off, it was just that the quality paid off for them.

" In the last few seasons I have been injured or away for pre-season so this year has been my first proper pre-season and it has been good. We have been beach running and stuff and it is just different to what you usually do in a season.

" I am definitely looking forward to the Ramsgate game, that will be I think a mean game for a pre-season friendly to say the least. Dartford will be a big game early in the proper season, obviously with their stadium and things like that it is going to be a tough game. Obviously we have got lots to improve on from last year so we will have a lot to prove this season. "
