Town defender Tom Newey spoke exclusively to The Grimsby Telegraph about the big game coming up tomorrow afternoon as he commented about his link-up play with recent signing Marc Goodfellow :

"I thought we deserved something at Blundell Park when we played them. In the last 15 minutes we bombarded their goal. I missed the penalty which would have got us a draw but aside from that we had chances to win the game, not just to draw it. It was disappointing we didn't do that so hopefully we can rectify that tomorrow.

"I'd like to think it will be a good game for the fans. If we can get three points up there, it will taken us level with them at the top. That may also create another gap from fourth place and that is the main objective. We have to concentrate on winning as many games as we can until the end of the season and if we do that we will get promoted because we have our noses in front.

"They have some good players - not least the two goalscorers up front. (Michael) Bridges was at Leeds when I was there as a young lad so I know what he is all about. He has taken the division by storm a little bit with some of the goals he has scored. All season, though, we have been solid and defended as a team so we are confident going there. We also have Redds (Michael Reddy) and Gary Jones in their own decent run of form so we are capable of scoring goals."

"Lincoln was out of character for our season because we hadn't really taken a hammering off anyone. It was just one of those freak results that happen and on the day we deservedly got beaten by five goals. It was important for us to show it was just a one-off and we did that by winning against Wrexham. It was important that we bounced back in impressive fashion and I think we did that last Saturday.

"The performance as a whole was solid for 90 minutes - although they did have a few spells where they were on top. We defended well and it was good to get a clean sheet and the three points. Now we have to go up to Carlisle and do the same.

"For the last few weeks on the whole we have been doing okay and I have been quite pleased with my own performances. On Saturday, I had Marc (Goodfellow) in front of me on the left and I though he had a great first half and we linked up quite well.

"He is a great attacking outlet as he likes to go and beat two or three players. He is an out-and-out winger and that helps in an attacking sense. But he filled in and helped out with defensive work and that was a plus. When Ciaran (Toner) or Parky (Andy Parkinson) play there, they give you a bit more of a defensive base and they are able to go inside. All three have attributes in that position. Whatever the manager decides tomorrow, if it's the same in front of me, then hopefully it will work well again."
