Grimsby midfielder Paul Bolland spoke to the Grimsby Telegraph about the 1-1 FA Cup draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park on Saturday, Bolland talking not just about his goal but about how hard Town worked as a team :

"We were happy to still be in the hat for the next round but, after being 1-0 up, it was a shame we couldn't hold on to the lead. Carlisle put a lot of pressure on us in the second-half and it was backs-to-the-wall stuff towards the end, especially when we went down to ten men.

"I thought we handled most of their attacks quite well and it's no disappointment that we went to the League One leaders and gave them more than a game. I thought in the first-half we played some decent stuff. In the second-half they had a right good go at us and we had to defend in numbers at times.

"I thought the commitment and the work of the lads was good. Everyone stuck together and there was a will to win. Unfortunately, we didn't get the victory but we have taken them to a replay are still in the competition."

"I think Butts (Martin Butler) flicked a header on and it seemed to hang in the air for quite a while. To be honest, I thought I was going to get closed down but nobody came near so I just struck the ball and, thankfully, it went in the back of the net. I was delighted with it.

"I thought our front two had looked quite dangerous in that first-half. They were winning the flick-ons and holding the ball up. I think we were worthy of the lead. They probably had a talking-to at half-time and they came out firing. We had to defend well as a team.

"Although we conceded that late penalty, let's take the positives out of the game and see if we can turn them over in the replay. The work ethic and the attitude of the lads was first-class. We showed a commitment to close down throughout the team, not just the back four and the goalkeeper. It is a shame we couldn't hold on, but there are plenty of positives to take.

"We still have a lot of work to do against Carlisle but it's a good draw at Huddersfield. It's something for us to aim for when we go out to try and finish the job against Carlisle next week. It won't be easy but if we can play like we did on Saturday then we're in with a chance at home.

"Then it would be a second game against Huddersfield this season and we have already beaten them once and convincingly. I expect they will be hoping we get through so they can gain some revenge for that 4-1 defeat earlier this season."
