United midfielder Marc Bridge-Wilkinson spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Tuesday morning about Carlisle's seemingly never-ending FA Cup escapades, Bridge-Wilkinson also talking about his own cup experiences at Port Vale in the past :

" We obviously struggled in the first two games, or game and 20 minutes, and we knew that we had to go down there and do a job, so we did. It was disappointing obviously, we travelled to Grays twice and Millwall inbetween and it is a long, long way. It is part and parcel of being a footballer though, you get on with it, it is something that we have all done since we started playing, so we just get on with it.

" The next game now which is obviously Crewe tomorrow. They are obviously struggling a little bit at the minute but we were struggling maybe a few weeks back and we have turned ourselves around a little bit now. So they will probably be thinking that they can do the same, so it is going to be a tough game but it will be interesting and hopefully we can do them.

" I was actually driving home from my parents at the time of the third round draw and I got a text basically saying that I had the got the draw that I didn't want, which obviously was a long away trip. Then I found out it was Millwall, which obviously you would want a big team I guess is the way that the club would look for it. We would love Manchester United away or someone like that.

" Millwall is a tough place to go, we lost there 1-0 a week or so ago but it gives us a chance, if we can get past Crewe, we will face Millwall. Then who knows what could happen, we could end up in the fourth round which could be a good thing for the club. We don't know what is going to happen, it is a place we are capable of going to and getting a result, that is what matters I guess.

" I wasn't too pleased with my performance on Saturday but I have done alright previously I think, I just need to try kick on again tomorrow. The penalty was quite a strange one really, I knew that I wasn't supposed to kick the ball if it came off the bar but I thought that it had gone in. From what I am led to believe most of the other lads seemed to think that it went in as well. I guess the referee and the linesmen, they could probably see it better than I did but they didn't think so. "

" I thought that it had gone in so as it came back I just put it in back in the net thinking not a problem. Then the lads were calling me a lucky so-and-so because it has hit the bar and gone in, then I turned around and you kind of get that impression that the referee hasn't really blown his whistle for that. We weren't sure what was happening, the referee didn't seem like he had given a goal and we were unsure why. Obviously he hadn't given the initial penalty and then it is a free-kick against us, so brilliant. At least it didn't count against us in a way.

" Greg (Abbott) set us out from day one to go out and do a job basically, play them at their own game and be in their faces, make tackles and play in their half basically, and we went and did that. Because I think that we were perhaps a little bit guilty previously of trying to play a little bit too much football and getting caught, and them sort of bullying us in a way. They are always difficult games and in essence we went down there and tried to bully them, and I think that we did a good enough job.

" We have gone to Grays and it may have taken us three attempts but we have got there in the end, we have managed to do it and we are in the second round. I saw Histon take Leeds on and no-one in their right mind would have predicted that but it is the beauty of the FA Cup I guess. We can only hope for tomorrow night now and just hope that the weather stays off, or is not as bad as it needs to be to be called off. So we just want the game on and hopefully go and get the result that we want.

" One that sticks out for me is when I was at Port Vale we got beaten by Canvey Island. It was my first FA Cup game actually, we played Canvey away and we were 4-2 up as 90 minutes came up, the referee gave three minutes injury time and we ended up drawing 4-4. Which was bitterly disappointing, the manager wasn't happy, we came back to Port Vale and they basically bullied us really if I am being honest.

" They deserved to win, they beat us 2-1 and it was just embarrassing to be quite honest, it is one of those things that you look back on and think that you really don't want it to happen again, thankfully until now it hasn't. We played on the Saturday and we were definitely in on the Sunday morning having a run, so it was a difficult time. "
