Brian Horton spoke exclusively to the Silkmen's official website www.mtfc.co.uk about the 2-0 defeat at Carlisle.

"I think today was all about the first goal. We had a few chances in what was a very even first half and then we hit the post at 0-0. The game was there to be won but we have made a couple of mistakes to let them in. It's the same old story at the moment.

"Danny Swailes' clearance bounced off Dave Morley to drop down for their player to score the first but to be fair, it was a good strike. Then I went more open with the two wingers and they scored a goal where we should have defended better.

"It's disappointing when we've worked their 'keeper quite hard in the first half. He made a few good saves. But we can't seem to get a clean sheet to save our lives at the moment.

"We hit the post just before they scored but you have to be putting those away. Had we gone a goal up there we would have been in a strong position, because they were jeered off at half time.

"But we're not doing it. And I don't think we are as strong as we were last year, or even when I first came the season before. That's the biggest difference at the moment.

"We're just not strong enough as a unit. We're not playing as a team, we're not defending as a team and it's costing us.

"I think everyone was working hard but too often the final ball or the final finish is poor at the moment. It's just disappointing to be 0-0 at 77 minutes only to go down 2-0."
