Blues manager Neil McDonald
United boss Neil McDonald spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Saturday evening as he gave his opinion on Carlisle's 1-0 victory at Whaddon Road this afternoon. McDonald talking about a very professional display from his players :

" It's a very good day and we're on a bit of a roll away from home, and it's about time. I thought that we were very, very solid and created a couple of chances in the first-half. Then it was just really a professional job in the second-half where we've closed them down and tried not to give away too many free-kicks because they are strong with free-kicks and corners. I think we weathered the storm very, very well, we've had a couple of chances to counter-attack but at the end of the day we've done a professional job in winning 1-0 with a fantastic goal, and another clean sheet which is very, very pleasing.

" The lad (Joe Garner) is full of joy and he is a happy kid, all he wants to do is play. He's playing with some decent players at the moment and he's getting the chances. I said when he first came that he is a goalscorer, and when chances come along he has proven that he can put them in the back of the net. Sometimes you can use substitutes to kill time and stuff like that but I didn't see any reason to change, everyone was working back and was full of energy. They were all helping each other out, while at the same time still trying to counter-attack to get that second goal. Everybody needs a pat on the back for the performance today.

" We say it every game and it's nice that they (the fans) have gone away over the last two or three games and their team has got some points. That's what we've tried to do since the turn of the year and I think our form away from home is getting much, much better and long may that continue. He (Chris Lumsdon) should be fit next week, he played for the reserves and he played 60 minutes but he got a little bit of a kick on it and we've had a little bit of a reaction on his ankle. With tender loving care and lots and lots of treatment we'll see how he is towards the end of next week.

" I think the second-half performance where we said - listen we might not be able to play football, we might have to win the seconds and go a little bit longer to use our pace, then when we get the chance and we do get the seconds then we need to try and play a little bit. I think they followed the instructions and the gameplan very, very well and that was the most pleasing thing today. I've asked the players, and told the players, not to accept what they have got, I want them to have more and to try to go up the league. I want them to win more points and if anybody becomes relaxed because they think they have done enough then they have got myself and Greg (Abbott) to get on their back. They are working very, very hard for each other though and it is a team game after all, and individuals shine when they play well. "
