United boss Neil McDonald spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Saturday afternoon as he gave his opinion on the 1-1 draw at home to Northampton Town. McDonald commenting on a hard-fought match and the quality of Paul Murray :

" It was too open in the first-half for me, they knocked it about really well and they moved it about probably better than we did in the first-half, although we probably had the better chances. I think we had around or about five chances, but they played better in the first-half. Then they get the early goal which gives them a little bit of heart, so we tried to change the dynamics a little bit with the formation, the same formation but the dynamics just a little bit different. That came off and we scored, and we had a couple of chances after that so the game was probably a 1-1 draw on the balance of play.

" That's part of his (Paul Murray's) game getting into the box and making forward runs after everybody leaves the space for him, he did that very well and he was very unlucky not to score. We just couldn't break them down, I think their keeper was on top form today, ours didn't really have that much to do apart from pick the ball out of the back of the net. As I say, I'm still really, really pleased with a point, we can't come out all the time and play fantasy football as everybody is talking about. We've got our feet on the deck and we know it's going to be difficult, it is difficult and to come away after going a goal down to get a point makes me very pleased.

" He (Scott McGleish) is a goalscorer, and when you step up a level, even at the level we are at, if you give somebody half a chance then they stick it in the back of the net, and that is what has happened. You've seen what he (Paul Thirlwell) is all about, he'll take time, well not so much time, but he's had plenty of the ball, he's had a crunching tackle as well and he sees the forward pass which is what we want.

" I thought – go on then we'll give him (Stephen Hindmarch) five minutes and see if he can get a goal, it'll do him the world of good, there is still plenty of time for him but that is a great experience for him. I'll change the team a bit now, I've always said I won't play three games in one week, and we've got that coming up next week so we'll juggle it about a little bit but we'll still be strong.

" Players coming in is ongoing all the time, you can see that we are a little bit short so we are working very hard behind the scenes to try and bring somebody else in to strengthen the squad. The crowds are going up so we must be doing something right, you would take it after seven games where we are, on how far we've come this season the lads are disappointed with a point but they shouldn't be. That's four unbeaten now, and we've kept our home run going as well which is vitally important and we move on to the next game. "
