Blues manager Neil McDonald
United boss Neil McDonald spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips on Saturday evening as he gave his opinion on the 1-1 draw away to the O's. McDonald yet again talking about the need for the Blues to take their chances away from home :

" It was a very hard-earned point, I thought we kept them down to a minimum of chances again, just long-distance shots which obviously they got the goal from. We're just not having that killer instinct to finish off teams I thought. We've battled away but at the same time we've played some good stuff, opened them up and got behind them, but our final ball hasn't been there. We should really have been 2-0 up at half-time with Karl (Hawley) where the lad has cleared it off the line and that might have just finished them off.

" They showed a lot of character and fighting spirit and they certainly didn't want to lose three games on the trot. They have got their goal with a spectacular shot in the top corner which is very disappointing for us. A little bit of communication maybe might have seen us let the ball go, but you're in the thick of a battle and sometimes you can't hear people. Then you try and clear it and unfortunately it has landed to their player (Matt Lockwood) and he has hit it in the top corner.

" Not taking chances has been a concern for us all season, when we create chances we must stick them in the back of the net, especially away from home. That's the difference I think between our home form and our away form, that hasn't changed so far. It's disappointing when we probably should have been two or three up at half-time, if you get that little bit of a cushion then it allows for a spectacular shot in the top corner to give you a little bit of breathing space, but unfortunately we didn't get that.

" The substitutions were forced, Danny Livesey wasn't very well and I just thought that in the last ten minutes of the first-half that it was going to be more of a battle. More of a scrappy game with long balls and that's why I put in Luke (Joyce) in there just to tighten things up and be a lot more solid. I still think we created more chances in the second-half, almost created more, than we did in the first-half.

" He (Paul Murray) had a tight hamstring and he obviously didn't travel with us. That was a blow from training on Thursday, he didn't train on Friday either. We've got other players ready to come in and that was Johann (Smith's) first start, I thought he caused them problems and put them on the back-foot. I just thought that in the second-half though that we needed to go a lot more solid against a team down the hill who were just going to put the ball forward.

" Never underestimate a point away from home, especially with our form. We are hoping for three points from the Chesterfield game, our home form - we've only lost four games. If we can keep on the button, defend like we did resolutely today again, and take our chances, then as I keep on saying, and I'll keep on repeating it all the time, we are playing some good stuff, we are playing some good football, we just need to finish teams off.

" I don't know how they (Chesterfield) got on today, I'm not particularly bothered about them, I'll concentrate on them over the next three days. We'll reassess injuries tomorrow, everyone will be in tomorrow for a little bit of a warm-down and we'll just check everybody over. We have a strong enough squad at the moment with the other players, and they are ready for their chance, and if their chance comes along then I'm sure they will take it. "
