Brian Horton, who was speaking exclusively to Macclesfield Town's official club website www.mtfc.co.uk, talked about the sorry state of the Brunton Park pitch, as well as questioning the refeering decisions on both United goals :

"It was another good team performance against Carlisle. The pitch was terrible, but we got off to a great start through Andrew Smart who scored a fantastic first goal for the club.

"We played some good football at times, however they equalised. In fact, some of our lads thought it might have been off-side but having seen the video I can say that it was very close. The law is that it's an advantage to the forwards really, give them the benefit of the doubt.

"Many of our lads thought the second goal should have been a goal kick instead of a corner, but like I said to them after the game I think they made the wrong decision and we should deal with it.

"To come away with a 2-1 defeat is a little disappointing, but it's given us all to play for now. Hopefully we'll get a big crowd for the return leg, I think it's one of the biggest games in the club's history. We're 90 minutes and one goal away from the Millennium Stadium."
