Brian Horton, who was speaking exclusively to Macclesfield Town's official club website www.mtfc.co.uk, talked about the excellent home record of the Silkmen this season. He also mentioned about how he changed things around tactically to try and negate United's attacking play :

"It was an excellent performance, they were up for it, there was a good crowd and atmosphere just like it was against Stockport, whether they thrive on that a bit I don't know but it was great all round on a very tricky pitch.

"We went to the extra man at the back, Bully caused them problems and two of the other 3 midfield players got goals. I thought Danny (Whitaker) was absolutely magnificent today, absolutely fantastic.

"People have told me that's two defeats in 14 or 15 games, but we've drawn too many games. That's what stopped us being right up there, we've been ahead in seven games and only drawn. We've been very good here, only had two defeats all season, so I said to them, make it like a cup final, there's a big crowd here and they were excellent today.

"We changed the system to compensate for them a little bit, but also to get us running from midfield. I thought those two going forward were excellent, they've got the goals and we've got a goal from a set piece at last.

"It was a very important win for us today, there's still a long way too go. But if we play like that we don't need to worry about the bottom end, we've got to look forward but the play-offs are a long shot. I watched six games in three days last week, looking for a striker, but if we play like that then I don't need one."
