Kevan Hurst
New United signing Kevan Hurst spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips on Monday afternoon after Hurst had signed a two-year deal at Brunton Park, the 23-year old joining from Scunthorpe for a fee of up to £145,000 :

" I found out about this on Tuesday from one of the boys at Scunthorpe who was obviously on loan up here (Ian Morris). He mentioned something and obviously the gaffer (Nigel Adkins) has come in on Thursday and said that Carlisle have put a bid in for me. So the interest was flattering and I spoke to Greg (Abbott) and they were good terms and I am happy that I am here now. I just needed to be playing football and it is a great opportunity for me up at Carlisle. I think that they have got a good squad and good ambitions.

" I am a right-footed player but obviously in the last few years I have played on the left. Playing on the right suits me either way though so I am just happy to be playing football really at the moment. That was the main thing for me, so I hope to impress the fans and score a few goals and I just want to get on that pitch.

" I think that obviously because I haven't played as much as I wanted to last season, this season I have been frustrated as well. I will work hard and do my best, obviously it might take a little time for me to get going but I don't think that it will do. I am ambitious and I want to work hard and I want to win games. I want to score goals and I want to create goals so hopefully that will happen straight away.

" I spoke to Ian Morris about it a few times and he just said that obviously Greg has got a relationship with him from his younger days. He just said to me that he has been asking about me and I just took it on board and waited for the actual offer to come in. "

" Hopefully we could be in and around the play-offs, the gaffer has said that we need to tighten up in a few areas but that is something that every football team needs to do. So hopefully we can be in and around the play-offs, I have got a lot of ambitions to be around there again. Obviously strikers need supply, you don't score goals without the supply so that is where I come into it. If I can chip in with a few goals as well then that would be great.

" I know Evan (Horwood) from being at Sheffield United, and Paul (Thirlwell) also from being at Sheffield United and (Marc) Bridge-Wilkinson from being at Stockport with him. So I have not walked into a team of strangers, it feels comfortable when you do things like that, all of the lads have made me feel comfortable straight away.

" Obviously I was at Sheffield United when I was younger. I went on loan a few times to Stockport and Chesterfield and then I signed for Scunthorpe. I got two promotions at Scunthorpe which is good to put on your CV and played at Championship level for 30 to 40 games. So hopefully I can bring a bit of experience and a little bit of quality.

" I am just Kev Hurst, I am just going to do whatever I can do, I am not comparing myself to anyone, I don't compare myself to anyone. I get my end product and I get my crosses in, I need to work on scoring goals which is one of my main targets but that is me, I like to work hard and get crosses in. "
