Karl Robinson Talks About The Game

Karl RobinsonMK Dons boss Karl Robinson spoke to BBC Three Counties Radio and his club's official website after his side's 2-1 League One home defeat against Carlisle, Robinson saying the last ten minutes was kamikaze stuff from the Dons :

"I am disappointed, I felt probably for 80 minutes we did enough, and then the last ten minutes was just stupidity, absolute kamikaze, it was just stupidity. A free-kick when you are down to ten men into the goalkeeper (Adam Collin's) hands, a breakaway which is stupid when you are down to ten men and then ultimately a goal where a penalty is given and it is outside the box, we have seen it twice and it is outside the box, last year there was a penalty given three yards outside the box so maybe they are getting closer and the decisions are getting better.

"The officials have got two big things wrong tonight, there was a punch in Stephen Gleeson's face, which we've got video evidence of, everyone has seen it, but the assistant referees should be called linesman because they only want to be involved in the nice things, but you have to give Stephen credit for not reacting, he has learnt his lesson there and he will become a better footballer for that.

"The boys are saying the goal we never got has crossed the line, I can't see it so I have got to give the officials the benefit of the doubt on that, but there are also media from Carlisle and Milton Keynes, and national media, that have also said it was over the line. Then Charlie MacDonald goes through in the first-half and he is pulled back when he is one on one and that should have been a sending off.

"So, as much as I am being honest with you and saying it wasn't good enough I also think there are those things. The fans have maybe come to expect more and we didn't give it to them in the last bit, but I thought overall we had enough chances to win the game, but the referee (Mark Heywood) got very big, big decisions wrong. These aren't excuses, they are facts, as well as the fact that we weren't good enough in the last ten minutes."

"The first penalty they had, you can generally tell by players' reactions and you have got to hold your hands up and say yeah, he (Jabo Ibehre) jumps with his hand, it is funny, we put Jabo on for his aerial height because we have lost it with Mathias (Kouo-Doumbe) and then he gives the penalty away. But, then after that the players had a right good go and pulled themselves back together and got the goal.

"Then we just lost Bowds (Dean Bowditch) and were playing with ten men towards the end and we had a midfield player playing right-back. It is just really diffiicult to get shape when you have got so many injuries and their endeavour of trying to win the ball ultimately cost them in relation to leaving people free in the penalty box. But, the young players like Tom (Flanagan) who gave away what should have been a free-kick will learn from it.

"So, we have not won the game, again it is just chances missed, again. We can't go through the season and keep missing chances. It's hard for the back four because they make one mistake, get penalised for it and then you have lost the game. We've all got to take responsibility, me included, I thought when we made the substitutions and put Jay (O'Shea) on we looked a better team and then Dean Bowditch got injured obviously.

"The right-back position seems to be jinxed, (Adam) Smith and Tavs (James Tavernier) and then Mathias tonight, so he goes off and I had to put Chaddy (Luke Chadwick) back there and then Chaddy gets injured at right-back. Then when Jay came on we looked the better team I think, then we get the penalty, then we lose a man injured. I have just gone in the treatment room and there are four of them and I don't know if they will play for the rest of the season now, I am bare bones now in relation of who I have got left to play.

"Dean Bowditch is a groin, one is a hamstring, honest to God, it is unbelievable. Listen, when it goes wrong it goes wrong and you have got to take responsiblity for it. But, the fans were excellent tonight, you have got to give them credit as it wasn't good enough for the last ten minutes and we have consequently lost the game. We have missed chances and we have got to make sure that we regroup and come back here on Saturday and have another go."

"I am not going to say the stuff from the team was tonight was pretty and nice, it was rubbish. it wasn't good enough. The thing is that we spoke about it yesterday and the players know it that I will come out and stick up for them through thick and thin and they mean the world to me and they still do. But, today we have all got to hold our hands up and say that last ten minutes is not acceptable from an MK Dons team and we have got to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"But, it is important to have fit players, that then is the process of the product being the results. I just don't know what is going on, it is just incredible. I think we might have to let Tavernier go back tomorrow so that is another kick in the teeth for us, Mathias has filled in really well, OK he is a centre-half playing there, but we can't do any more than we have done this year to recruit the full-backs that we have and we just seem to be getting pushed right, left and centre.

"So, it is disappointing but we forget about that, our last ten minutes was just kamikaze and pure stupidity. But, we will learn lessons from that, I keep saying we will learn lessons. It is not all about getting it right today, it is a slow process and I will get it right. The players know that, the players know I am disappointed and when we get it wrong we have all got to take responsiblity, me included.

"My eyes are now on Brentford, that is it, not at all are we thinking about the play-offs, the season is nowhere near finished yet, there are so many points still to play for and we have got to make sure that we are in the mix by the end of the season. If we keep performing like that and get the key decisions right from officials, stop making silly errors in the last ten minutes then we will be alright."
