Saddlers frontman Julian Gray spoke to his club's official website and the Express and Star after his side's 3-1 win against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Gray happy with his brace of second-half goals :

"We've been on a good run lately and I was glad we were able to keep the momentum going with an excellent away win. Obviously I was pleased to get on the scoresheet but the main thing was that we got three points. The way that Carlisle played gave us chances on the break and it came right for us during the second half.

"We're growing in every game; it is clear to see that the confidence is there and now we're scoring goals as well as creating chances. The Gaffer (Dean Smith) and Jon (Whitney) deserve a lot of credit for the way that they have come in and changed things around. They want us to be positive all the time and it's showing out on the pitch.

"We're building in every game and there is the belief that we can go out there and score goals now. We can only concentrate on what we do; if we keep scoring and winning matches we will give ourselves every chance of pushing on up the table regardless of what other teams are doing.

"There are a lot of matches still to play and a lot of twists and turns ahead. Come the end of the season, if I've scored in every game and we've gone down then it means nothing. The focus is on staying up. It's nice to score but as long as we win that's the most important thing. We need those points on the board.

"But we're scoring at the right times now. Before we'd be on top but not scoring, get the sucker punch and that would kill us. It would sap our energy. Now if we fall behind I still feel we can go on and win games.

"When you're down there and things aren't going well it's hard to be a flare player, so you have to dig in when you're struggling. You have to do that, you can't always be at your best. Things have turned for whatever reason, a change of philosophy maybe, but it's benefitted me.

"We're playing to my strengths. I'm working for the team but going forward is my strength. I'm getting the ball earlier, getting one-on-one with the defender and we're creating a lot more."

Meanwhile Walsall midfielder Richard Taundry commented to his club's official website :

"It was a good performance and we deserved to take all three points. There is a lot more belief around the place and this win gives us a massive boost. Hopefully now we can keep on climbing. For me personally it was great to be back in the team and all the lads have to take credit for putting in a hard shift.

"All the little changes that have been made since the Gaffer took over are making a big difference for us now. As a team we believe we can continue moving up the table. It's four games unbeaten now and it gives us something positive to build upon. The fans were brilliant again today. We couldn't ask for any more from them at the moment and by working together we are really making an impact."
