United midfielder Jon-Paul McGovern (J-PM) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton (PN) at Thursday lunchtime's open press conference for the local media, McGovern first talking about the visit of his former team Swindon Town to Brunton Park on Saturday afternoon:

J-PM

I am looking forward to it, I think there are a good few players who have moved on since then, I think the manager (Paolo Di Canio) has come in and he has got his own way of doing things. He is very professional and he works the boys real hard from what I believe. I met a lot of nice people in Swindon and I had a good time there, I think Jeremy Wray, I have got to say a big thanks to him, he allowed it to happen for me to come north.

Because, at the end of the day it was family reasons that I wanted to leave Swindon and he gave me the opportunity to be able to leave there and get myself a clean slate, so I have got to thank him for that. But, Swindon is a good club, they are all set up, they have got a great backroom staff and they know where they want to get to go, but I will definitely be looking for the win on Saturday and it is a big game for us.

As a player what is it like when you come up against your old club?

J-PM

It is a weird sensation I suppose, I was there for four years, I had a mixed time there, we got to a play-off final and we were unlucky not to win it. We have had a relegation and before that we were kind of mid-table, so I have had mixed views there but I have had a good footballing experience there. It was a nice place to live and fantastic for getting around, you could get to London, you had Cheltenham, Bristol, it was a nice place to live. It has got some beautiful sights to it so I had a good time there, I look forward to seeing some players but, like I say, I am a Carlisle player and I will be definitely looking for the win and trying to get ourselves up the table.

PN

As you say, two back to back home games now so a great opportunity to really build on that Hartlepool win?

J-PM

Yeah, we are coming off a good win, the boys are full of confidence, we have been working hard on the training ground this week, especially we had a couple of double sessions. The manager (Greg Abbott) has really got into us and said what we are up against and what we have to bring to the table. So, we are looking forward to the game and hopefully we can beat Swindon and march on to the Tuesday night game (against Crewe) and we will be looking to win that one as well.
