United boss John Ward spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton on Friday evening as he talked about the 3-0 home win over Swindon on Tuesday night, the game coming up at Northampton this afternoon and what his thoughts are on the future at Brunton Park of Preston-loanee Joe Anyinsah :

" I was really pleased with the Swindon game, I thought that it was a very thorough performance. We looked at the video this morning, Dennis Booth and I, and we then made some notes on stuff. There were a lot of good things about the game in the way that we would like the team to play. People talk about Simon Hackney and Joe Garner and Joe Anyinsah's two goals but it was a very, very strong team performance and that pleases me as much as anything.

" The indifference has come in the cups which is a shame because it generates the cash and creates a lot of interest and we don't have that third round cup tie to look forward to in January. I think in the main though the league performances at home have been good but having said that there was only one of them in November anyway. So people are going to remember those cup matches which we were all disappointed with anyway, so it's good to get a good performance and hopefully it can generate good interest now.

" I would like to bring Joe Anyinsah back on a permanent deal, there is no secret about that but we've got to wait until everything runs through until January. Which gives Alan Irvine a chance to look at Joe and Joe a chance to go back and meet up with Alan as a new manager for him. So it really depends on all three parties coming to any agreement, time is going to have to take its course basically, but yes I am interested in signing him permanently.

" We've been looking around at different players all the way through and I think that it is important that we do that. We've got things in mind but getting them in mind and then putting them in place are two different things but we are working on all sorts of different angles that may or may not happen. A couple of players would be nice but having said that we've got Richard Keogh in on loan and Joe Anyinsah in on loan so if they were to go back that would lessen the numbers even more. It's certainly a couple we need to look at though and as time moves on we'll try to do that.

" I haven't really spoken to Bristol City about Richard Keogh at this particular time but I've mentioned to Alan Irvine this morning that I would be interested in Joe if that was to materialise at the end of December. If we could get those two though, if we could get those two, then another two would be really good for us and really strengthen the group. Because, as I've said before, it's a good strong group as it stands.

" I think December can be tougher than November, it's important that we don't lose sight of this game tomorrow and hopefully we haven't, certainly within the camp. Because coming up we've got games against Leyton Orient, Swansea and Tranmere Rovers who will all have good shouts to be in the top six finishing teams. So with two of those being at home it's a very, very important month for us. It would be really good if we could be in a top six position come early New Year and then look at the New Year programme and take it on from there.

" I have been there before (like Northampton) on a run of defeats and you put your team out there with a flea in their ear, and certainly I think they have got that from losing at Swansea the other night. They'll have a bit of a devil in their game and if suddenly they get a break and score first then that is the day it is all going to disappear and it's their day.

"We've got to guard against that and make sure that if there is any sort of backlash, as it were, coming from their previous results that it is not taken out on us. Everybody is fit and well which is nice, Jeff Smith has reported fit and well again and we've put him on the coach so we've added him to the squad from the other night. "
