Latics boss Joe Royle talked to his club's official website about yesterday's 1-1 draw between Carlisle and Oldham at Brunton Park, Royle pleased with a point after his side had played for 50 minutes with ten men :

"When Daniel Jones was sent off you think 'here we go again' because we've had too many red cards and penalties against us this season. But we kept at it and deserved a point in the end because we passed the ball better. Sean Gregan just kept heading the ball, Neal Eardley was on top form again and Paul Black was excellent.

"I'm pleased for the fans, too; they made a long journey north and were away in the corner getting wet. It's always nicer to come home with something. Carlisle played well and they have got dangerous forwards, they were always going to hit us on the break with the spare man when we switched to three at the back in the second half. It was a risk we had to take because we needed a goal, and that risk paid off in the end.

"We're still looking for that win and the hunt goes on. We need a win and it'd be nice to get it at home. But it won't be easy - Crewe are a more direct side these days and we will have to be brave enough to get the ball down and pass it."

Meanwhile teenage full-back Paul Black commented to the Oldham website :

"We worked on team shape in training on Thursday and then Joe (Royle) told us, 'that's the starting team'. I was so happy to be in the starting line-up, especially because injury has made this a frustrating season for me. I injured my ankle in October and I've only played a couple of reserve games since coming back, so I was tiring and getting cramps towards the end.

"I enjoyed the game and I loved being part of it, even though it was difficult with ten men. It was a great experience and I hope there's more to come. All the lads are different class and they are helping me to improve my game. I definitely want to experience more first-team football as soon as possible and hopefully I'll get another chance on Monday."
