Joe Garner Talks About The Game

New United loan signing Joe Garner (JG) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips (JP) following Carlisle's 0-0 League One draw at home to Crewe, Garner saying that he enjoyed his Blues debut second time around:

JP

What did it feel like to be back out there in front of the Carlisle United fans this evening?

JG

Yeah, I really enjoyed it, just a bit annoyed that we didn't pick up three points, but really enjoyed being out there and glad to be back.

JP

What does it feel like to have made this return to Carlisle and how hopeful are you over this month and maybe beyond that now?

JG

Yeah, I know what I was signing up for when I wanted to come here. All the Carlisle team work hard and it is basically why I wanted to come really, just get some games.

JP

One of those moments in this game where you would probably still need to learn your team-mates, you have only come up here and you played a ball ahead of Jon-Paul McGovern that he would maybe have got 15 years ago, I don't even know about a few, but it is all a learning experience, what did you make of the game with them?

JG

I thought Crewe were a tidy team I think, the front three were decent, but I think we played quite well, I felt like we were on top second-half and it could have gone either way.

JP

I think when you left you went with everyone's best wishes for all that money and we would have hoped that you would be in the Premier League by now, now that we have got you back here what are you hoping to achieve this time around then?

JG

I don't really know really, I just want to work hard for the team, do well and hopefully score some goals, that is basically it really.

JP

And after the spell you have had I suppose just playing games and being involved and dare I say, even feeling wanted at times?

JG

Yeah, you could say that, I knew what I was getting when I spoke to Greg (Abbott) and the staff here and just basically come and hopefully play some games and do well and help the lads out.

JP

Well, we will give you a bit longer to assess your team-mates before we ask you about what you make about whether they can maybe make that charge that everyone is expecting, but it is wonderful to have you back here, the very best of luck in your time here.

JG

Yeah, thank you very much.
