United frontman Joe Anyinsah spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips after today's open training session at Brunton Park, Anyinsah later in the interview also fielding questions from the News and Star's Jon Colman :

" I am really excited about the new season and I am sure that the lads are raring to go. You can see by training, the tempo is up so I think that everyone just wants to get the season underway now. I think that after a nail-biting season we definitely needed a break, it was quite exhausting and it took a lot of energy out of all the players in the situation that we were in. After the first couple of weeks holidays though you just want to get back playing again and everyone is just raring to go.

" To be honest it will sound like I am sitting on the fence really, but I don't mind, at the moment it looks like I am going to feature as a striker here. I quite like it because I get to use different parts of my game, like strength and pace over the top. So you get to use different attributes but whether it is on the wing or as a striker I don't mind. I just like to be out there playing really, that is my main objective this season, to get games under my belt.

" It is a little pressure just to be saying that I am going to be the leading goalscorer but I do feel that I can chip in with goals. Hopefully fingers crossed I can chip in with a few goals and help the team this year. I have got a little target, me and the gaffer (Greg Abbott) had a chat the other day and he set me a target, but I will just keep that one to myself.

" Personally my favourite position playing up there is just playing on the shoulder really, managing to get in behind. Because I think that if they have got a high back four then I get in over the top with pace, so I just like to play on the shoulder. Sometimes you need a bit of service but we are working hard in training, on the wings Cleveland (Taylor) and Matty Robson at getting crosses into the box early. Once they get deliveries into the box, us as strikers, we have got be in there to finish them really.

" We have been optimistic in pre-season, I think that everyone is buzzing. Because if you think about it we could have been starting the season in League Two and I think that everybody is just happy that we are in this division still. We are going to give it a right good go this year so everyone is just buzzing really. "

" I think that everyone has come back with a good attitude, mentally everyone looks stronger and physically as well. The first day we came into pre-season training actually everyone was, I think that everyone was shocked at each other at how fit they were. Obviously the lads have been doing a lot in the closed season and I think that showed in the games we played as well, we played well in some of the games so hopefully we can take that into Saturday as well.

" I look up to Thierry Henry as a footballer and I look up to my Dad and my older brother. Obviously they have supported me being the younger person, those are the people that I have looked up to as a family member, my Dad and my Mum. I haven't got a clue what I would be doing if I wasn't a footballer, honestly.

" I am just a normal guy when I get home from training, relax, socialise with friends, shopping, cinema. I like to watch films, nothing too exciting, just casual Joe. I like action films and I like comedies as well. Personally it would be nice this season to reach the target which I have set, and as a club obviously we would like to finish as high as possible in the table and see what success we can get.

" It has been massive for me to be more settled more, it has helped me so much. Before I was on loan and I had just signed in January, so even though I knew the players once you have done a pre-season with the team you feel more part of it. So right now I feel quite part of it and comfortable, and hopefully it will show on the pitch.

" It was pleasing to get a headed goal (at Bradford), I was quick to tell Dennis Booth about that because he is always slaughtering me about my heading ability. It was nice to get a goal and to put in a good performance as well, so I was happy.

" It is definitely going to be a good battle against Brentford, I don't know much about them personally but they have just come up so they will have no fear. Sometimes that works in their favour, they will just be relentless in what they do but we will be prepared for the game now. We will carrying on during the week training hard so we are looking to go out there and do the business. "
