Gillingham caretaker manager Iffy Onuora spoke to his club's official website about the 2-0 defeat of the Gills by Carlisle at Brunton Park, Onuora bemoaning the decision making of referee David Foster :

"I felt we matched them and am naturally disappointed to lose the game. We started well and kept them quiet but I was disappointed with the first goal. I felt Simon Royce was fouled and the referee missed it. It was a big decision and he got it wrong. I'm not one for making excuses but the referee was incorrect and should have disallowed the goal.

"I'm disappointed with the disallowed goal too. I felt it was a fair goal and couldn't see a problem with it. Chris jumped with the keeper and got a good header in. The referee has got two massive decisions wrong and I'm obviously far from happy. We will just have to get on with it though because you have to be careful what you say to referees.

"The Chairman (Paul Scally) came up to me near the end and told me to be careful but it was the heat of the moment and I was unhappy with the ref for large periods of the game. He just didn't let it flow.

"What can I say about that second goal? It's easy to feel sorry for ourselves but I felt hard done by today. I think the main difference was in the box. We needed better use of the ball at times but on the plus side, we were right in the game until the end and might have nicked something on another day.

"I don't want to speak out of turn on Adam Nowland but we have a number of midfield players, so perhaps we will decide against extending Adam's loan but it's up in the air at the moment and it still needs to be decided.

"I'm enjoying what I'm doing and that will continue until the Chairman makes a decision on the new manager. It's seven weeks now but there is no news and we wait to see what happens. You guys in the media have linked Mark Stimson to the post but Sammy Lee also went last week so it won't naturally be Stimson who takes over. We just need to keep waiting although I expect a decision to be made shortly"
