Ian BogieGateshead manager Ian Bogie spoke to his club's official website following his side's abandoned pre-season friendly match against Carlisle at the rainswept Gateshead International Stadium, Bogie talking after the Heed had been 2-0 up when the match was waterlogged off on the 58 minute mark :

"The groundstaff did a great job to get the game on, the rain had been relentless all day and you can't do anything about the elements. The referee (Seb Stockbridge) made the right decision to call the game off when he did but I was delighted with our first half performance - I was really pleased with what I saw.

"We were excellent in difficult conditions. Some of the passing was superb. The first goal was an excellent finish and the second was a definite penalty. There was some great interplay and performances in the first half but I'm not going to shout from the rooftops because we were two up against a good Carlisle side. It is pre-season and we've now got to perform at that level consistently and take it into next week's friendlies at Kendal and Workington.'
