Town boss Russell Slade spoke exclusively to The Grimsby Telegraph about the 1-0 defeat to United that sees the Mariners slip six points behind the Blues in the race for the League Two title :

"I am hoping we can finish as high as possible. The title is not the priority, but everyone likes to win championships. If we can finish second or higher I will be delighted.

"I thought we played well and had plenty of possession. I am disappointed more than anything with the goal, but in terms of performance we did well.

"Carlisle is a difficult place to come. They are on top of the league and have been on top form - they had won six out of the last six and have now won their seventh.

"I do not think we needed to have such a high line as there was no pressure on the ball. Bridges likes to play off the shoulder and he got in behind us. Steve Mildenhall made his mind up for him by coming so far off his line and he punished us severely.

"Marc Goodfellow had the best two chances of the game and if he had taken one it might have been different. It is crucial we take points from these games. We do not want to be relying on other people."
